Waterdeep?

As for a Waterdeep book wish list, I can't think of all that much. I'm sure there is plenty more background material and setting stuff that could be published that I just don't know about. That would be the best, rather than more prestige classes, feats, etc. Granted you'd have to expect some sort of prestige classes derived from the Waterdhavian Watch and the Watchful Order of Magisters.

I agree that the surroundings of Waterdeep could do with a little more detail. The products seem to hint that Waterdeep commands a much larger swathe of inhabited countryside than what is detailed, but then again, it might all just be outlying farms there to feed the city (and then there's that massive Chantea production facility just north of it ;) ).

I guess the best addition would be to really details and flesh out what all the power groups are doing to each other and what they want out of being in Waterdeep. That's where I get the bulk of my adventure ideas for Forgotten Realms campaigns.

Celt: More history (who are the lords before 1357 DR?), local neighbourhood descriptions and stories, characters and groups, details on the temples and institutions from the Watch to the Guilds, more building plans, more on the economic life of the city and surrounds, its artistic life, more adventure capsules such as FR1 had, encounters and how to weave them together, the undercity, special events and occasions. Some of which *was* in FR1 but was cut for space.

diaglo: ...and FRE3 Waterdeep, novels from Elfshadow to Silverfall, "Realms by Night", several Dragon articles... Most things in the Realms have a scattering of secondary references, but a book about Waterdeep is one that focuses on the city.

true one source alone does not exist. but all those secondary sources can be a lot of information.

heck even the 1edADnD FR grey boxed set had mention of what to do with areas around or near the city.

so too like you mentioned did Dragon. and Of Course Dungeon has adventures that can easily be played in Waterdeep.

don't forget FRQ2 iirc Hordes of Dragonspear takes place within easy travel of the city.

use the FRIAtlas too. they have added maps.

and as for novels... well there are a ton(ne). even the threat from the sea series had waterdeep.
