Watermark's Temple of Mysteries

"If any of you spellcaster types need any of the components for casting, there are some to be found in the bookcase. I can't vouch for the quality, but...", he shrugs. Then he notices Thar.

Moving to where he stares blankly at the mirror, Darien speaks to the half-orc. "Ahhh... maybe you shouldn't look at that, Thar." He prods his shoulder with an outstretched finger, hoping to get his attention.

Jarten shakes his head and says feebly: "I... I´m well, the light just... dazzled me. Sorry"

He half-draws his sword, examining the edge, and then looks around, stopping when he sees that Thar doesn´t move.

"Eh... Thar?"

Therron continues to examine the mosaics. [ooc: do the three figures (2 men + 1 woman) in any way resemble the statues?]

Finally, hearing Thar's name spoken by three different people without an answer from Thar registers. He quickly turns his head and sharply looks first at Thar, then the mirror he stands in front of. Errr... Thar? maybe you should move away from there?

If Thar doesn't move or respond to anyone's words, Therren will try to help anyone trying to move Thar, being careful not to look into any mirrors himself, of course.

Grimbold, if he can identify the source of Thar's troubles, will quickly smash the mirror with a jab of his fist, careful not the look the thing in the eye. If he cannot ascertain the fact that the mirror has paralyzed Thar, he will instinctively try to see what has transfixed Thar.

The half-orc in the mirror

For Thar's eyes only:

As Thar stares into the mirror, he sees a golden-haired woman clad in white (seemingly the same woman from the mosaic) come up behind him and make a sign of welcome. Then, silently, she moves to a secret compartment in the east wall, located in the mosaic mural where her own lower legs rest as she sits. The compartment slides out like a drawer when found. The woman looks back over to Thar knowingly, then the vision fades.

Therren observes that the three statues do indeed match the figures in the mosaic on the eastern wall, but they are not positioned the same. The southernmost statue is of the woman with long hair, dressed in robes and holding a thin sword. The middle statue depicts
the man with curly hair and a beard, holding a staff upright. The northern statue shows the dark-complexioned man with a sword, a torch held above his head.

Aieron glances up in time to see Thar seemingly freeze up in place. He waits a second but the half-orc seems frozen in time. "Hey Thar, are you okay?"

If Grimbold sees Thar in some sort of trouble, or if one of his comrades alerts him to it, he will run to his friend's aid, examining Thar for any signs of injury.

Thar remains completely motionless and unresponsive, despite all his comrades' efforts to rouse him from his rigid state. He responds to neither verbal prompts nor physical prodding. No outward signs of injury or distress are noticeable, his expression is simply blank.

Certain that the mirror must be the source of the half-orc's immobility, Grimbold lashes out with his fist! With a noisy smash, the mirror shatters into a spider's web of cracked glass, and several shards drop to the stone floor below. Grimbold winces slightly at the cuts left behind on his hand [no significant damage], but unfortunately, there is no change in Thar's condition. He remains motionless, staring blankly ahead at the now-broken mirror.

Jarten frowns, and finally he moves towards Thar, and shakes him. "Do anyone have a spell for this? he´s paralyzed, or something, and by the position of the skeleton it could be permanent."

After that he searches his pockets before looking ahead and mutter something. Then he concentrates. [OOC: detect evil, examine the whole room]

[if the newly broken mirror is not the one originally mentioned as having a piece broken off of it] Therren glances at the mirror Grimbold has demolished then at the other, wondering first if there is some significance that other broken mirror, then if there's any truth to the old wives' tale about broken mirrors in general. just what we need...!

Errr, sorry, Jarten - fresh out of spells... perhaps someone with actual spell-casting abilities...?, Therren murmurs, casting a worried look at his statue-like adventuring companion. His anxious tone belies the lightness of his words.

Deciding that his skills would better serve the company with the closer statues, he examines their bases to see if they've been moved at all or even could be.Hmmm.... I wonder why their statues are in different places than they are in the mosaic....?

OOC: That's correct, the mirror on the north wall originally had a piece broken off of it (and still does). The mirror on the south wall is the one that transfixed Thar, and has now been smashed by Grimbold.

"Im not great at riddles, folks, but I don't want to die here. I've been here long enough already.", he says with a sigh.

Darian starts looking at the fallen wall that now blocks the party's excape, searching for an obvious mechanism or method of raising it.
