Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

It's humor. Not everyone thinks the same things are funny, but I (and therefore at least one gamer) found it so.

Come on, didn't any of you chuckle at the "that which doesn't kill you" bit?
Well, sure--it's not really that I find no value at all in this sort of article, but I consider it (along with everything else that's been the first digital issue of Dragon thus far) to be the sort of filler that should be used to pad the page count, not as the harbinger of a new era (in more ways than one)...

I loved it, personally. I had no problem wrapping my 41-year old male brain around it - but then I liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so quirky gal-oriented humor doesn't faze me.

If she starts referencing Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, though, she's dead to me.

I don't mind. It's sort of neat to see the hobby through a completely different perspective. I don't have any trouble reading her prose style - it's non-linear, but pretty entertaining.

Yeah, it's not hard to understand. If you get bored, scroll down to the bottom where she starts talking about playtesting 4e. That bit actually has some good GMing advice I'd never considered! :)

As a fellow writer, I like Shelly's writing. It's very evocative and full of energy. It seemed very scattered, like she has verbal epilepsy, but from a storytelling perspective, it's very charming. I can See Shelly in my head, telling me this stuff over coffee. I can imagine her hands moving with her talking, and her eyes all big at the emphatic moments. Shelly as a narrator is a great character, and you can tell so much About her by the way she speaks via the text.

As an article, it's less-than-helpful. Namely because I'm not sure what the point of this is. Is it just "Shelly's Anecdote Corner"? If so, then it really should be more of a blog than articles.

Also, I find it amusing. Her book was "Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress" and now it's "Full Time Wizard". I take it she upgraded her work schedule when she became a WotC employee? ;)

FTW! That's exactly how I felt about it... "Who cares?!? What does this rather petulant series of anecdotes have that could possibly interest me or anyone else as a gamer? Is it April 1st already?"
Actually, I typed that before I read the article. Namely because I misread this thread's title as "You Go Girl" and just started giggling at Valleygirlisms applied to D&D, and felt the need to type that up.

I'd have to agree with Rechan. I don't think there's anything wrong with her writing style and I had no trouble understanding it all. She's a good storyteller and made me laugh. Although she kept my interest I did find myself wondering "...what's yr point?" about half way through...
I do think it might make a colomn though, at least it is something different. Wizards seem to be experimenting with a lot of things now. I for one think its great.
