Weapon Finessed Whips and Trips

So if I make a Trip attack with my whip using the Weapon Finesse feat for my attack roll, the opposed trip roll is still Strength vs Strength, right?
Whips suck, right?

You're right. That's the way whips work in the core rules. Whips in the core rules suck, because even though a tiny shuriken can hurt a person in full plate, a whip cannot.

But whips don't have to suck.

No, you have to use Str, but the defender gets to choose Str or Dex.

Whips suck, right?
