Weapon Knacks

I also think this is an interesting house rule. However, I would argue against modifying the skill system for it, and I don't think it should be one per simple weapon, either.

I would argue instead that you create a Weapon Knack Feat that replaces Martial Weapon Proficiency and can be taken multiple times (each time granting a different knack applied to a particular weapon type). Classes that start with Martial Weapon Proficiency would get a single instance of Weapon Knack in exchange, and Weapon Knack would be inserted into the Fighter's list of bonus feats.

Yeah. Unless the weapon is designed that way and works that way in anyone's hands. That's one of the things I was wondering about. Maybe some weird exotic weapon. (If it's exotic is it automatically weird? :))

try and get a hold of the Black Company CS,

they have a revamped MW section. Basically there's 6 lvls of MW and different types of bonuses you can get.

it would be perfect for a low-magic setting
