Weapon of Returning?

What about bullets of returning in an automatic assault rifle? Always reloaded, or just plain suicidal?

"Ha, I unleash a volley of 20 bullets at him."

"Next round, 20 bullets head for your gun at high speed."

I havn't got the text, but dont they re-appear in your hand?

If so, they'd be bloody, and quite hot. Not good :)

Teleporting (PsiHB) weapons do that. Returning weapons fly back through the air so you can catch them.

But I wouldn't consider ammunition to be "a weapon that can be thrown" anyway :)

As to hypersmurfs problem with spell storing weapons...
Was it a sage ruling that said that anything masterwork could be enchanted as a weapon?

Oh, I've got no problem with someone making a masterwork arrow into a +1 Spell Storing melee weapon.

Just not 50 of them for the price of one.

I'd let a player put returning on ammunition. He'll be pretty disappointed in the results though, because ammunition is destroyed when fired. :)

So in other words your problems with enchanting ammo don't really factor into the argument about throwing/returning at all - because it's perfectly possible to allow a returning weapon without adding throwing to it, but not letting someone enchant 50 spell storing arrows.

On a related note, can you make a full attack with a Returning weapon?

Returning: This special ability can only be placed on a weapon that can be thrown. A returning weapon flies through the air back to the creature that threw it. It returns to the thrower just before the creature’s next turn (and is therefore ready to use again in that turn).

As long as your BAB is +5 or less, and you don't have Rapid Shot, Haste, Flurry of Blows, or some other effect that grants extra attacks - sure!

But if you want to make more than one attack with your full attack action, then no.
