Weapon Saves vs. Caryatid Column

Mapleaxe

First Post
Planning on using the caryatid columns in the Tome of Horror for my next adventure. In their description it says that any weapon striking the column must make a forttude save (DC 12 IIRC) modified by its enhancement bonus. I know that this is not how weapons usually save in 3E (no save for mundane weapons, 2+1/2 caster level or wielder's, whichever is higher, for magic), but if it saves the party from losing some of it's mundane weapons I'm all for using it. The problem that I run into is that they have a number of weapons with extra powers (a +2 Holy Thundering warhammer, a +1 Charged psionic light mace, and a +1 intelligent nunchuks). I would think that these would be tougher than standard +1 and +2 weapons and wouldn't shatter as easily. Should these make the save as described above or should I give them something extra and if so, what?

What he said. Only the actual enhancement bonus counts. This is one of the few situations when you'd prefer a vanilla +5 weapon instead of the '+1 keen defending mighty cleaving' swiss-army knife.
