Web Spell

Black Omega

First Post
This came up last session and I've gotten a little curious about it. You can only escape from a Web'ed area by strength checks or Escape Artist rolls. So, someone really can't cut through the web at all without a flaming weapon? I know the strands are tough, etc etc. But if a +3 weapon can cut through dragon scale, why not Web?

I'd heard that spider web was stronger than steel . . .
It is pretty damn tough. They use it for bullet proof vests! Now, if a lump of teflon going at extreem velocities can't pierce about a half inch (or something, I know nothing about the thickness of bullet proof vests) of spider weave, can a pointy stick? Just food for thought (mmmmm . . . food . . .).

There are too many strands, and they are too sticky. Merely touching a single strand of this web stuff would secure you.

g!

From the SRD:

The strands of a web spell are flammable. A magic flaming sword can slash them away as easily as a hand brushes away cobwebs. Any fire—a torch, burning oil, a flaming sword, etc.—can set them alight and burn away 5 square feet in 1 round. All creatures within flaming webs take 2d4 points of damage from the flames.

In short, Web is flammable. Hack away with your flaming sword; just be careful not to toast your entrapped friends! ;)
