were vulcans inspired by elves?

tribbles are gnomes.:D

A common misperception, the tinker gnomes use dire tribbles to power their spelljammers, but all gnomish legends eventually get corrupted by the lies of their enemies, the ferengi/kobolds!

Then who are the gnomes? There have to be gnomes. Ferengi are avaricious, which is a gnomish trait to some degree. Maybe Ferengi are dwarf/gnome/kobold amalgams.

Kurtulmak finally got his revenge on Glittergold and the gnomes are no more while the Ferengi are now everywhere!

Klingons are orcs

I have actually pictured Klingons more as dwarfs than orcs. Though they are tall, they are warriors to the end and very big on tradition. Instead of beards, they have long hair.

Actually, I see them resembling the hobgoblin traits moreso than Orc or Dwarf. Organized, MIlitaristic, Might makes right, etc.

Also, unless Roddenberry was a Tolkien fan, I don't think he had a whole lot of other "aloof, tall, pointy eared" references to draw upon for his vulcans. Either he picked it up from a folklore archetype, or it was an original creation.

this is more like what i am looking for, has anyone seen a reference to roddenberry reading tolkien? his vision is very documented, and i am wondering if anyone has ever cought a tolkkien reference outside of that abomination of a video

If you look at Roddenberry`s work (especially the newer "-not Trek" series), you won´t find many connections to Tolkien.
Elves did exist before Tolkiens work, and so any resemblance from Vulcans to Elves is not neccessarily connected with Tolkien.

I can imagine that Roddenberry did know Tolkiens work, and maybe got some ideas, but the most was his own work.

In the Making of Star Trek book (old one), Klingons were a slave warrior race of an unknown ancient race that was either overthrown by the Klingons or that just left them. They became clanish and raiders.

I saw them as orcs in the old trek and later hobgodlins in next gen.
