A Aquila First Post Jan 9, 2003 #24 What I've heard, and it makes alot of sense, is: Vulcans: Japanese Romulans: Chinese Klingons: Russians The major alien races in Star Trek were based off some of the major world powers at the time.

BrooklynKnight First Post Jan 9, 2003 #25 Aquila is correct. Startrek was very much a political message for Rodenberry. Almost every episode had some subtle poltical or humanirian tone. He especially loved to denounce relgion as an old and archaic idea. And let me tell you, Klingons and russians are a LOT alike Hairy Burly people that love to get drunk and fight! (take it from me, my family is russian)
