I am too. Not nearly as much as EPIII but Prisoner of Azkaban was the start of the real meat of the Potter story and I'm ready to see it.
Not only is it my favorite book of the series, but the movie is going to have a good director too.

However it was the start of the savagely huge Potter books, which has me worried on how much they're going to edit for the movie.

That's a good point. Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix could both be made into two movies.

Face it guys: LotR trilogy is Peters career peak. There's only one direction from there - down.
Of course he'll only go down after ROTK. Its the greatest film ever made. That doesn't mean King Kong can't be absolutely fantastic.

I'll probably see it anyway, but it's got a recipe for a disaster: it's a remake of an old classic, insane budget (I heard 200 mil somewhere - thats more than the whole LotR trilogy)
LOTR cost 300 million.

plus it stars a giant gorilla.
And if Jackson gets his way...Naomi Watts. Jackson. Watts. A classic monster, Weta Special Effects and 200 million dollars. Count me in.

Ooops. My bad. Sorry, I misread 2005 as 2004.

In which case I will still cast a vote for other: "Aliens vs. Predator."

Why re-remake King Kong? I don't get it myself.

P.S. Is the movie title "Peter Jackson's King Kong"?
He wants to remake it because it was his favorite movie as a child, and the old effects and such turn off younger viewers these days. So, he wants to make a version that will appeal to them and introduce a new generation to what he loves.

I don't blame him one bit...in fact, I know how he feels.

My kids must be special. They are LotR nuts (before "RotK" I'd never seen them sit still for 3 1/2 hours straight), but I took them to see "King Kong" about a year ago at a local movie theater (conveniently, about one block from our house). Though they were a bit bored by the beginning (all talk and no action), once the characters got to the island they loved it. They had no problem getting into the story, 70 year-old effects and all.

My favorite sfx shot in the original is a composite, where you can see *through* one of the sailors (I think he was wearing a light colored shirt or jacket). I would imagine that audiences of the time were so startled/scared by the monster, that they didn't notice stuff like that.

I was a bit disheartened when I heard PJ wanted to do "King Kong" next, but I'll just go for the special effects and enjoy it. Nothing else in the poll got me excited, but Harry Potter 4 (the Goblet of Fire) is supposed to come out in Nov of 2005, so that'd probably be my first choice for 2005.

King Kong, while it interests me, is not really makin' me quake in anticipation.

Indy 4 and Episode III, while I'm excited, I'm also worried.

Bats 5 is the winner by far, simply because I'm just so damn curious of how
Nolan's take will be and he my fav character of all the characters of all the
other series combined.
