What about Xander?

not in the system

Xander is lucky and resourcesful. If you have played the Buffy board game, Xander's neat thing is that he can carry two "help cards." One could create a new class - the lucky hero - for Xander.

Well, that's one issue with d20 Modern right there. There's nothing that says that all heroes have even one high ability score. Xander's got a lot of heart, and is (reasonably) courageous, but those aren't well-represented in his stats.

One thing to consider would be an ability to represent luck, perhaps providing additional action points the same way that Con provides extra hit points. Then having a "Lucky Hero" would only make sense.

Oh great, take the product I am most looking forward to, and completely pollute it with your soap-opera crap about a cheerleader who kills vampires. I really thought I saw the end of these threads when we created the non-rpg sci-fi / fantasy board. Now I see you guys have found a way to drag it back into the main boards (though at least this is just the d20 system games section, and not the rules or general section).

I don't mean to offend you folks (though I think it probable I have). I probably watch plenty of shows you guys would (justifiably) think are crap as well. Just, for some reason, this show really irks me. Too many of my friends place too much seriousness on this show, without any sense of humor or perspective about it.

The designers of d20 Modern were pretty unabashed about using Buffy the Vampire Slayer as one of their sources of inspiration. They used BtVS's cast of characters as examples of how d20 Modern characters develop and advance.

I believe you about this. I am just curious, where did you read about this?

oh, grow up

This section of the board is about stand-alone d20 system games. This thread is about how to translate a character from another game into a stand-alone d20 system game, in this case d20 Modern. Nothing is forcing you to read the thread. If you're worried about this discussion "polluting" your view of d20 Modern, why not look at other threads, instead of trolling around for flames?

Shadow Chasers is Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the serial numbers filed off. I would be utterly shocked if the designers didn't admit to some inspiration from Buffy.

For the record, I think this thread fits perfectly well in the D20 System Games forum. It's fun to see how D20 Modern can handle popular literary/film/TV characters.

I used to feel the same way. Then again, I felt that way without ever really seeing an episode. Now? Let's just say Amazon will be shipping season three's dvd set as soon as it's released. :)

I do believe that Buffy was in TV Guide's recent 100 Greatest Shows of All Time (if it wasn't TV Guide it was some major entertainment magazine).

Anyways, we've all been rude to Felon by hijacking his thread. My apologies.

As to your question, if Xander isn't a Dedicated hero, I don't know who is. Even though he's generally useless, he's always there for the Scooby Gang.
