Lawful Evil kinda guy here.

I like playing Evil even in 'good' games. Everyone always thinks that it can never work... but I say, it can!

I chose CN. And I love playing CN (though not stupidly) because it gives me the greatest flexibility to solve a solution.

I am fairly sure I am very far away from CN in real life though. Just because I know of a solution doesn't mean I feel it is within my right to enact it when it steps upon the rights of others (whereas a CN person I think wouldn't have any qualms, at least on Tuesdays Thursdays and weekends except when it is the full moon unless he felt like it).

I chose Chaotic Good, because that's mostly what I play. Evil characters are fun, though. And to answer the question posed earlier, yes. My evil character did abhorrent things... really really abhorrent... but he was the nice one of the party, so meh. Nontheless, if your DM is open to players being terrible and the other party members go with you, evil games are REALLY fun to play... 'specially for the sociopaths out there. ^_^

My I chaotic neutral and chaotic good alignments best, following closely by neutral and neutral good. I am strongly "allergic" to lawful neutral and lawful good alignments and I would play any evil any given day over them.

I don't play chatics or evil characters stupid or insane. After all, stupidity and insanity come in many alignments, so it's a case by case thing.

I don't like playing in games where someone playes LG paladin. People always manage get them become control-obsessive, supposingly good, more close to LE/NE or at times just LN actually. And oh the whining and threats when rest of party don't accept their leadership. Causes too much heated fights what LG alingment should be. Stupid, boring, makes me sleepy.

Greetings...

I always used to play Neutral Good, or Chaotic Good, but when those Alignment Quizzes came out. I've always thought they were a great idea, and helpful when designing a new character.

Running my typical character concept through it though, I find that most of my characters would be Chaotic Neutral. Only once was I ever Neutral Good.

Well, I usually end up being NG, perhaps with a small list towards CG. It's a pretty "easy" alignment to play, and when I do "alignment-type quizzes" I generally end up NG based on my answers. Otherwise, I'll go for CG, but I have to aply myself a little more to playing the chaotic part of the alignment.

However, I'd also like to chime in with the rest of you that said "I prefer alignment-less" gaming. I'm not all that comfortable with setting labels on people and things, calling them "good" or "evil". As I have grown older, I have begun to appreciate gaming that is more gray-scale than black or white. I like characters that are more like one of the heroes from a film noir, a scoundrel who, for unknown reasons, decides to do the good thing for once.

Cheers,

I have played almost all so far, but the one I play most often is probably Chaotic Good, which just eventually fits better with the characters background ideas I come up with :)

Neutral Good. More or less fits my personal view of good: more interested in the cause of good, and sees moderation between laws and freedoms as the best means to achieve good.

My NG PCs more or less follow the laws, but is willing to ignore laws/rules if it proves to impede good rather than to help it (based on knowing vs. suspecting--he'll break laws if necessary if he knows something bad is going to happen, but he won't break laws ih he just suspects that something bad is going to happen [since it's just suspicion/guesses on the PC's part]). Along the same lines, my NG PCs will not follow unjust laws (a.k.a., laws very befitting of a LE society), or blatantly use the law when it's in favor of good.

Overall, I prefer Good-aligned characters, though I will consider playing a Neutral character at times (mainly True Neutral--the "average person" variety & not the "maintainer of good/evil and law/chaos balance" variety); I'll only play an Evil PC if it's an Evil/villain-based game (ideally a one-shot or side-game, & not a full-blown, lengthy campaign).

Then again, I just like the idea of playing the hero when I'm a PC--I play the villain enough when I DM, thank you very much.
