WHat are the best books/items ever for D&D? :)

1. 1e dmg- tons of brilliant, helpful information; can be read for pure enjoyment (and i still enjoy reading it today).
2. 3e manual of the planes- reads like a fascinating encyclopedia.
3. 3e draconomicon- incredibly creative, incredibly detailed book on dragons.

Mutants and Masterminds - very well done for comic book supers.

Um, I love this game, but why would you include it as D&D?

I have only a few that are real favorites:

Blood Enemies: Abominations of Cerilia - The book on Awnshegh for Birthright. I think it's one of the best books for that setting, which is one of my favorites to begin with.

The Book of Nine Swords - Woo, weapon-swingy types that don't just say "I power attack" each round!

Oriental Adventures (3e) - And woo, Wuxia! A significant percentage of my 3/3.5 characters thereafter had Tumble, Balance, and Jump scores in the 30s.

Minis would be #1 on my list too. I might never have even noticed the game if it hadn't been for a big gorgeous display of minis in a toy store way back when. Nowadays when I don't play anymore, I still enjoy painting minis.

Because I ignored the OP in my enthusiasm. That said, I got the Warriors and Warlocks supplement and like that too.

• Colossal Red Dragon / Gargantuan Blue Dragon - Both are great. WotC, I'm waiting for the Green Dragon to complete the set!
• Age of Worms - Wonderful adventure path that perfectly captures the classic DnD experience
• DDI Compendium - Great tool for exploring mechanical themes during character building
• Gold Box Video Games - I fondly remember playing these games from my youth
• Never Winter Nights on AOL - I fondly remember playing this as well
• 2nd Edition Complete Ninja's Handbook - Yeah, I went there But I really loved this book
• 2nd Edition Complete Bard's Handbook - Not only was Bard my favorite class in 2nd Edition, the splatbook for the class was great as well

Planescape: Torment

The Dark Queen of Krynn by SSI

Creature Crucible 2: Top Ballista

3rd Ed. Dragonlance Campaign Setting, Age of Mortals, and War of the Lance
