What are you planning for Halloween?

Halloween is coming up, and yes that ultimately means the 5th Annual "Killer Kegger" we have in my neck of the woods, but we also have another Tradition in Rochester NY (Where I no longer reside).

I travel up there the night before the "Killer Kegger" and I run a Halloween special One-Shot adventure for the Group. We plan out Character concepts online or over the phone according to the setting I present them with, and when the time comes I make my pilgrimmage to my Hometown. Halloween is a special time for us. If Christmas is a special event with family, then Halloween is a special event with friends.

Anyways.... this year I want to do something extremely cool. These are my lifelong friends and we grew up togethor and we've taken different paths in life (one of us is coming back from Japan!) and in this one day out of the whole year, we are all togethor again like in the old days.

So I need something good.

Scratch that... something Great.

I'm leaning towards Call of Cthulhu or AFMBE (Group Favorites), but I dont know which one. I am at a loss for what kind of campaign to run. Anybody have any great One Shot Horror session? Or an Idea? I'm not limited to CoC or AFMBE either if the idea is really good.

So what are you all doing for halloween?

No gaming here :( I do have a pair of parties I'll be going to though.

Yea the partying is a must every year, but we HAVE to game on Devils Night... cuz you know, everyone that plays D&D worships satan.

We're gonna try summoning him this year.

On Halloween I'm just handing out candy. Tying to make Halloween as awsome for the kids as it was for me not too long ago. The day after that, however, is Tarzenflarg Day. Ah yes, good old Tarzenflarg Day. Don't know what this is? Well, the ancient order of The Knights of Foobumbus (nothing to do with the Knights of Columbus, mind you) go out on Tarzenflarg Day, which is the day after any major holiday, and gather leftovers from the neighborhood. Therefore, the day after Easter means lots of lamb and chocolate, the day after Christmas means ham and crappy toys that kids didn't want, after Thanksgiving is lots and lots of food, and of course my favorite, after Halloween... Between the candy I bought but never got handed out, and the leftovers from other people, I have enough sugar for weeks. Months even.
Well, that pretty much sums up my Halloween. First candy for the kids. Then, candy for me. Everyone wins!

Either a CoC d20 or Ravenloft one-shot. It may end up being a horror "injection" into the current Dragonlance game I'm playing in. So even then it could be a Ravenloft one-shot, so to speak. I love D&D around Halloween. It's been a bit of a tradition for our group. We didn't do the Halloween game last year, but I'm going to make sure it happens this year.

Now its a tradition with us, so I have to do something.

Gaming on Devils Night, bigass party on Halloween night.

Glad to see i'm not the only one doing this.

You know, if Sword Sorcery had not pushed Masque of the Red Death to November, I'd be hosting it as a one shot. D@mn it all! I wanted to run it as a halloween adventure!

I'll be dressing up in a kilt as the best man at a friend's wedding.

From there I'll be changing (magically, of course) into Roland the Gunslinger, and going with my wife, who will be a pirate wench, to dance at a local club, consume massive amounts of alcohol and stuff, and trick or treat for women in tiny little costumes (fairy wings a plus). :)

After we take our kids trick or treating, that is.

Gaming wise, I won't have time to do my usual Halloween "spooky" adventure. Which is too bad. I've got fond memories of about 8 years worth of Ravenloft Halloween specials.

All in all, it will be a great Halloween, I think. Which is good, as it's my favorite holiday by far.
