What are you reading in 2023?

Re-reading the first two Felix & Gotrek omnibuses, since against better knowledge I'll start up a second weekly campaign, GMing WFRP4e on Foundry. But as we all know, one can never have too much Grey Seer Thranquol.

I finished reading Now I'm reading Double Phoenix. Edmund Cooper's tale was the stronger, but Roger Lancelyn Green's was strong, too. Both are dreamlike and allegorical.

I read S.B. Divya's Runtime. A cyberpunk race story, but much deeper, speaking to the immigrant experience.

Now I'm re-reading Manly Wade Wellman's The Old Gods Waken. That was my first introduction to John the Balladeer, and now that I've read much more of his tales, I'm curious to return to it.

Finished my reread of the Murderbot books, in preparation for the new one coming out in November, and because I tend to reread the same books over and over again. Now I'm rereading The Long ARM of Gil Hamilton, which I don't think I've read since I switched to kindle (before switching back to books).

I always think of Gil Hamilton when I think of the spell Mage Hand

Shakespeare for Squirrels by Christopher Moore was 5/5 as usual; the books with Pocket (Fool; Serpent in Venice; Shakespeare for Squirrels) are right up there with Lamb for excellence. I kept reading bits of it for my gf (because I kept laughing out loud) and I think she's sold on them. I'm a little annoyed I can't find my copy of Fool right now. I'm pretty sure I got it out to lend to someone, but it didn't actually get lent and is currently just floating free...somewhere.

Infinity Gate by M.R. Carey is likewise super-solid (5/5) and a good setup for more. I'm not sure how this compares to Long Earth series from Pratchett & Baxter (not having read past Book 1 of those), but there's an obvious comparison to be made.

Witch King by Martha Wells currently underway. Liking it so far.

I loved Christopher Moore. I haven’t read any of his stuff in years. Good to see he’s still going.
