I dove in This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. It's not my typical reading, but I'm enjoying it and it's pretty short.

Up to number 13 in the Inspector Allyen mysteries by Ngaio Marsh (missed one of them as I randomly wait for them to be $2.99 or less on my kindle).
There were two where the ending felt rushed, and two where some of the relationship things seemed goofy - but otherwise very good stuff from the Golden Age of Crime Stories.

Given that Esteban Maroto was the one who made that outfit famous by putting Red Sonja in it (two years prior to when Niven's original short story was published), I'd say it's more archetypal than typical, but YMMV.
