What are you working on? (Playing, GMing, desigining, etc)

Working on a few things:

-OMEN RPG. Built from the ground up to be modular, exciting, and intuitive.
-The OMEN universe (seven planets, over 20 moons, and dozens of stations across roughly twenty stellar systems)

-FRPG conversion for OMEN. Working on magic, races, more advanced melee combat, and a game setting. Somewhat of a throwback but mixing in a lot of contemporary and original ideas regarding the setting.

-Honor Bound Graphic Novel. I'm the lead writer and continuity coordinator for the new GN. Can't talk much about it, but suffice to say it should be awesome.

-NanoNet Novel. Been writing it for a few years, gone through several revisions/versions. Toying with the idea of turning it into a GN but we'll see what we do with that (definitely a back burner project.)

What I'm playing:

-GMing two OMEN play-test campaigns, one is 20+ sessions and the other is about 6 sessions in.

-Playing in an OMEN play-test campaign for about 8 weeks now. It is going surprisingly well considering it is a brand new GM who has only played RPGs for about six months (namely D&D.)

1) About to begin a 1e AD&D PbP. [EDIT] As a PLAYER!!! YAY![/EDIT]

2) Drumming up advertising/investors for the soon-to-be in print "Dragon-esque" magazine, "Under the Table". Illustrations, editing and layout notwithstanding.

3)Website and publication of my decades old/long campaign setting of Orea.

5) Completing layout for a manual to an alternative 3rd party publisher D&D system.

6) Continuing to contribute to my own Story Hour, from a long ago group, http://www.enworld.org/forum/story-hour/294419-steel-dragons-tales-orea.html

Professional Stuff I'm working on:
  • More books in the Outer Veil line for Traveller for Spica Publishing; the one I'm working on at the moment is a supplement detailing a large asteroid-mining platform (deckplans included) as an adventuring location.
  • Alkonost Rising - a setting book for Stars Without Number detailing a whole new sector of space with several local powers, a lot of politics, and much potential for adventure, intrigue and war; published as part of the Infinite Stars Cooperative. Of course, I have permission from SWN's author to write and publish this setting commercially.
  • Various USE ME wargaming booklets for 15mm.co.uk, right now a cyberpunk supplement.

Fan Projects I'm working on:
  • Infinite Stars, a fanzine for Stars Without Number, Traveller and other sci-fi RPGs.
  • Collecting and painting 15mm miniatures.

RPG Campaign:

Things I'm considering taking up as projects:
  • Writing an E6 D20 rulebook and publishing it on LULU.
  • An urban campaign prep for Lamentations of the Flame Princess.
  • Maybe something post-apocalyptic

Playing - 1st level character (need to make them for the game tomorrow). Thing is, I don't know if I'll be able to keep playing because...

DMing - Running 1 (possibly 2) game(s) for some 10-15 year olds next Sunday.

Right now I'm putting the finishing touches on a convention game: the Grindhouse Arena. It's a Pathfinder grand melee, bread-and-circus gladiatorial bloodbath. There will be much carnage, and it will be glorious. The fourth-and-final playtest is tomorrow, and the convention event is two weeks from today.

To be honest, I really don't know what the heck I'm gonna do GM-wise after this is over - I've sunk in probably two hundred hours building this monstrosity. Maybe I'll start working on that sandbox game I've been wanting to build...

Happy Jack's. Pursuing the RPG hobby with reckless abandon. And beer.

Currently not playing, as I finished part of my university education, am now on a year of internships, and will continue at a new university in fall. Which is a great opportunity to bring together a new group.

In the meantime, I am writing on my Lands of the Barbarian Kings setting, which I hope to have in a presentable form by the time the 5th Edition of D&D comes around to make it one of the first free third party settings. So far, it has reached a pretty solid stage where it now gets to write up specific personalties, organizations, and adventuring locations.

My main project right now is a customised Conspiracy-X campaign setting.

I've pretty much completed the character design rules, the initial situation and the expected major factions.

I'm also building a Strands of Fate character for a post-apocalyptic game.

DMing: Heirs of Turucambi
A brief summary: The party acquired the third Tome of Apotheosis and a draught of Aqua Mortis, both required to restore life to the spirit hag Xaetra, who resided in an eidolon golem made of ambergris. In so doing, they hoped to weaken or destroy the blackwater hag Diadema, who held part of Xaetra's corpse in her amalgamated body. Diadema sought to awaken three magical maelstroms, to drain the waters of the Solnor Ocean through a planar portal into a hollow cavern within the lesser moon Celene. There, the twin daughters of Dagon and Olhydra have been imprisoned by their father.

Moments after her restoration, Xaetra was called upon to ascend, to counter the influence of the Blue Coven, who in turn counseled Diadema at the bequest of Olhydra. Upon her resurrection, Xaetra’s unliving deathlock was pulled from the composite form of Diadema, leaving only the salt hag Salkt and sea hag blood magus Tempest behind.

The party learned of the covey of storm hags who sought control of the forgotten ruins and the altar upon which a sacrifice must be made, to awaken the maelstrom. The storm hags dwelt within the remains of a cloud giant’s palace on Cloudsea, a floating cloud island containing a stolen sea. WIthin the waters of Cloudsea, a leviathan known as the hydrimera had been imprisoned.

They also learned of the Ninety and Nine, a mysterious assemblage imprisoned upon a floating island, once home to the krampus, the male offspring of Xaetra. Though the krampus has recently abducted Xaetra’s last born child, the pearl-skinned Jariah, his whereabouts were unknown.

Through dreams and omens, the party learned of the Olio, a bizarre creature comprised of the dead, which now guarded the ruins below. Only the petrifying inks of the hydrimera or the killing song of the Ninety and Nine could defeat the beast.

Working On:
- Notes for my spin on the undersea "Mysterious Places" of Oerth where my game has taken place; Turucambi Reef, The Sinking Isle, and the Jungle of Lost Ships.
- "Hagborn", my multi-ecology hag lore piece, as told by the a male hag.

Playing:

1) A BDF and a mind mage for playtesting new rule fixes for a friend's homebrew.

2) Various chars for 4e once every 2 months or so.

GM Stuff:

1) Slowly adding more flavor text to the area descriptions of my world (6th Age of Doulairen)

2) Designing the second full sized adventure for my world/game system

3) Putting new editing work into my novel about my game world to see if I can break a larger word count barrier (And seal up a few potential plot holes with nifty stuff)

Smoss
