What are you working on? (Playing, GMing, desigining, etc)

Playing: I had to bail on playing in a Shadowrun campaign because of time constraints, and the 3e campaign I was in is on hiatus because the DM moved to California on short notice (dumb google offering him crazy money...) but that will be back on hopefully when/if he returns once the contract is finished.

Planning: I haven't DM'd (only played) for over two years now except for a one shot, and I'm seriously itching to run something again. So I'm currently planning a Planescape'ish campaign set in the planes of Pathfinder's Golarion setting (specifically centered around Galisemni the City of the Celestial and the Damned).

Writing: I just finished a ton of stuff for Paizo and after that I took some time off from (paid) writing in the past several months, so I'm currently only working on two projects right now, a large'ish 3pp Pathfinder project, and a small 4e project (yes, you heard that right, I'm working on a 4e project. No, hell has not frozen over, it's a collaborative project since I don't know 4e crunch).

I'm working on an even more human-centric greyhawk, based out of the '83 boxed set.

Picture the surface elves more like the xenophobic, menacing elves from Poul Anderson's The_Broken_Sword, the dwarves being greasier, greedier double dealers, the gnomes as dark-humoured tricksters and the halflings .....uh... probably gone. Also, reduce the human population by about 1/3.

Now stir in a little bit more Hyboria, Lankhmar, Dying Earth, HPL, and Clark Ashton-Smith, and you got what I'm angling for.

Running: nothing, last game I ran was a 1-30 4E FR campaign that finished up last summer before I moved to Las Vegas.

Playing in: Pathfinder Serpent Skulls AP. We just finished our 12th session and it was a doozy. We nearly had a TPK on our hands and 4 of the 5 players have to roll up new characters, including myself. My old character was a 4th level Dwarven Cleric. My new character will be a level 2 barbarian (wild rager)/level 2 fighter based off of John Steinbeck's "Lennie Small" from Of Mice and Men. I even used an anagram of his name "Malen Isnell" and will be role-playing him using that schtick of a gentle giant with a child-like innocence - but a with a twist - he'll have a wild raging temper if someone/something attacks anyone/anything he loves. I'm looking forward to starting him out this upcoming Saturday night and hopefully he lives through the rest of the campaign!

Preparing for play:
  • (1st Edition AD&D) Odo, Acolyte of Pholtus - online play-by-post campaign.
Playing:
  • (3rd Edition D&D) Ontwine of Highfolk, Druid of the Velaeri; Theodred of Mitrik, Paladin of Delleb; Welisc the Mage, Wizard of Delleb; Yric the Halfling, Bard of Lirr and Wenta - we play every other Sunday afternoon.
  • (3rd Edition D&D) Hathored, Cleric of Heironeous - we play every other Sunday evening following the 3rd Edition campaign listed above.
Designing:
  • (3rd Edition D&D) The Troubadours - a group of about two-to-three dozen aristocrats, bards, and knights devoted to the Old Oeridian traditions of poetry. Exclusively followers of the teachings of Heironeous, these individuals travel across the Flanaess spreading his ideals of Chivalry, Honor, Justice, and Valor through poetry, song, and dance. They often travel in smalls groups of two-to-three, and can be found in most major countries of a goodly persuasion, though mostly centered around Furyondy. (This is part of my ongoing effort to merge Greyhawk with A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe.)

I'm running a 4e Eberron game once a month. The PCs are goblins bent on overthrowing the world. In the session where they went the the Shadowfell to retrieve their dead wizard they completely rewrote the cosmology of the setting, and we decided everything canon is really just a big conspiracy of the gods to keep the goblins down. So they are bringing the Forgotten God back, with the dead wizard having a shard of the god's soul jammed into his face (using the Eye of Vecna rules). The wizard spouts insane prophecies, which the bard and the priest PC dutifully write down and turn into gospel. They are about to topple the towers of Sharn (when I say about, they just arrived and I expect it to take many levels).

I am starting up a PBeM using Labyrinth Lord. OSR isn't my true love, but I want something simple for the PBeM, and all my players are D&Ders, so it seemed like a good fit.

And this month I return to the monthly Mutants and Masterminds game that PirateCat stole from me!

PS

In addition to the playing/GMing stuff I mentioned earlier, I'm now working on designing an adventure. This one's just meant for my players, but of course it's also to give me practice in writing bigger adventures that fit a more official style. So I'm structuring it similar to Pathfinder APs.

For now, part 1, House on the High Rocks is underway. The adventure as a whole has yet to be named though. I've just got names for each section.

Playing: Nothing really. I have a couple of Living Forgotten Realms characters I'd like to use more, but haven't been able to recently. I hope to correct this at the upcoming Genghis Con here in Colorado in a couple of weeks! I'll also get to try out some non-4e games there.

Oh, and I'm playing board games - most recently Innovation.

DMing: Three campaigns.

First, I'm resurrecting my long-running online War of the Burning Sky campaign via MapTool and Skype on Friday nights after about a month off. Yay!

Second, I have my in-person ZEITGEIST campaign. I'm not sure when our next session will be, but probably in a week and a half or so.

Third, I have my online family campaign that's currently in Madness at Gardmore Abbey. I'm hoping to run session four this weekend.

On top of that, I'll be running three sessions at Genghis Con - my Staff of Suha trilogy.

Working on: An intro adventure for new DMs. Also, my blog; a new version of it should be coming out soon!

I'm working on my own D20-based fantasy RPG using the OGL.

I don't know if it could be called a fantasy heart-breaker or not, but I will be honest. It's essentially my "What is D&D to Me?" game.

I've taken all four editions, kept the things I liked, trimmed some fat, made all the mechanics work together, and re-did some math. Is it a "Frankenstein's Monster" of a game? I don't think so, as I've tried to make everything simple, consistent, light and airy. More like "Frankenstein's Angel Food Cake".

I've even been writing my own setting for it, which I'll probably use to kickoff a blog where I post short stories. Who knows, maybe I'll get a nice little fan following?

I've been thinking about what to do with it when I'm done.
--Do I sell it like a full-priced RPG? Probably not. I'm just some guy who likes games with no real fame or recognition.
--Do I sell it cheap through PDF and POD? Likely. Everyone likes spontaneous cheapies, and I'm not looking to be an entrepreneur.
--Do I give it away for free? Very likely. I figure I'll just give the PDF away as show of gamer-love, charge for POD at unit-cost, and write stories for it that I enjoy writing. I can always make pocket change with Google Ad-sense if I want.

Will it become a hit with book deals and a huge fan base with me becoming the next Paizo? Maybe in my dreams, but it's nice to dream once in a while.

Currently playing: Playing in 3 different campaigns right now.

1) Human Thief/Swordmaster, Nar in a 1E Earthdawn game. Great epic war against the Therans.

2) Human Fighter, Akim in a 2E Al Qadim game. Only get to play once a month but I'm really enjoying the setting. First actual play experience with it.

3) Eladrin Knight, Valerian Dawnfire in a 4E Nentir Vale game. Only a few sessions so far but its been a blast.

Current Projects:

1) Working on getting an old adventure from one of my past campaigns ready to share with others. When finished it will be a 1E module complete with my own cartography and artwork.

2) Working on a large post for this site. This thread reminded me that I need to get back to it. :D
