What are your Comments on the Spell Compendium 1

I'm curious what people think of the new Spell Compendium. I have not received mine yet, but I thumbed through it with an eye towards spells for my dwarven druid to use ... and I was shocked by the power creep that I saw.

Yes, most of these spells are repeats, but there is a lot of strong stuff in there that probably should have been tweaked down a bit.

Have people folded this book into their games yet? Is the power creep really as bad as I think it might be? Or am I jumping the gun, here?

When I looked through it at the store I didn't see anything that I thought was unbalancing.

Having skipped a lot of the wotc material these spells were in due to PRC glut, I think the Book is AWSOME. I will be buying myself a copy very soon.

Now I want a monster compendium.

Some of the spells are certainly more equal than others. Owl's Insight, I'm looking at you. Lightning Ring looks a bit overpowered, not sure on that one. Overall, though, it's a great book.

I liked it now all I have to do is talk my GM into allowing it. He already allows the complete books but fears things getting out of hand.

I like it becuase it adds some variety to what my 13th wizard will have ready dependingon the enviroment. I have 4 spell list for him that are his basic list for being on the road, in the dungeon, in the city, in the city on watch days (City is under siege right now). It really allowed me to specialize my list quite a bit.

I liked the new evocations at 2-3rd since it allows for differing tactics. I know Fireball is nice and all but in some groups you need variety to get the job done. I like to have area affect and single target blast'em spells and the higher level spells I use to buff party members.

I especially liked the Bite of the were spells since iti s hard to be buffed up all day when I am traveling or in the city now I can buff up in one spell even if it last only a short while.

PS down side is the 25,000 gp it will cost to put all the spells I want into my spell book. and the 100+ days it will take
