What are your favorite weapons?

Falchions, because its a greatsword with style (plus that crit range rocks with power attack).

Scythe, for even more style (see avatar).

Longspear, for sheer utility (power attack when set against the charge...ow. Or a rogue with a longspear)

I always choose weapons based on a character's personality or a look I'm going for in the character portrait.
I like bastard swords for humans. Couldn't tell you why, but almost every human I played had a bastard sword.
Falchions are popular among my characters simply because it's easy to make 'em look bad-ass in the character portrait with a 5-and-a-half-foot meat cleaver thrown over their shoulder.
Throwing knives are a staple for any character that doesn't carry a bow (longbow/shortbow/hand x-bow, I don't particularly like lgt/hvy crossbows).

My favorite weapon of all time was "Beater Stick". A 400 lbs. main support beam taken from a barn with axe, pitchfork, shovel, hoe, rake, and posthole digger heads driven through it and one end carved to half its original width to facilitate its being used by our enlarged half-ogre fighter as a vicious club during pivotal fights. It had its own wagon. And a theme song.

generally the Longsword but I have doing a lot of Falchions since 3.0 / 3.5 came around. NO MORE WEAPON SPEED YA_HOOO_WIEEE!!!!!

Compound Longbow can be scary though, I just don't use them much.

In DARKSUN, nearly all of my characters used "singing Sticks". They are akido sticks that are hollowed so they whistle as they strike. Neat stuff.

I said scythe, but the quarterstaff is a close second. Regardless of class, you can do so much with it for the low, low price of ... free.:D

It's funny to hear so many people liking the scythe when it was such an abyssmal tool to use in RL combat. It should also really be an exotic weapon due to how difficult it is to actually use as a proper weapon.

Opponent. Wheat. What's the difference? :) Both are ripe for harvesting. ;)

I prefer the Spiked Chain. It is the one weapon that inspired me to play a single class fighter for the first time ever. With the right feats, I can control the combat as it occurs. Love it! I had a Dwarven Fighter/Dwarven Defender use it, and a Fighter/Rogue/Master of Chains use it. Then I wrote up my own Master of Chains prestige class.
