What are your favorite weapons?

I said scythe, but the quarterstaff is a close second. Regardless of class, you can do so much with it for the low, low price of ... free.:D
I had a Fighter/Sorcerer/Spellsword focus on the quarterstaff. I loved it because as a double weapon I could use it one round, then have a free hand to cast a spell the next since I didn't have to sheathe my off-handed weapon.

One time we encountered a rust monster and my character started attacking it.

DM: "what's your weapon?"
me: "quarterstaff."
DM: "Hm, what's your armor?"
me: "the Armor and Shield spell."
DM: "Do you have anything metal on you?"
me: "no."
DM: "[sounds of frustration]"

I have always favored the mace.
Next to the mace, the D&D long sword.
Next after that, the long bow.
And next after that, throwing knives.
Greek fire / burning oil is an old favorite.

halberd, morning star/spiked mace, or double bladed battle axe. of course, a polearm which is a battle axe on one side and a flanged mace on the other would cause me to spontaniously combust =)

Let's blow the quarterstaff's horn, shall we?

Not only that, but it's good for the flashy combat maneuvers like(queue the perentheses cheerleeders):

when used two-handed,
-it grants a +4 to disarm attempts(yay! hoorah!)
-it grants a +4 to sunder attempts(gimme an S! gimme a U! gimme a N! etc ...)

when used as a double weapon(which it can, Hoorah hoorah!)
-the second end counts as a light weapon, reducing the penalties by -2/-2(It's so great! Woo!)

Not just all this, but it can be used to prod obnoxious NPCs to get the hell away from you(BOOyah!)

How's that for a SIMPLE weapon?;)

It's all about the spiked chain! Combat control! Sass! Looking like a mean mofo!

Plus, I mean, seriously now. You have a chain with you. If your tarrasque gets stuck, you can just pull him out ;)

Scimitar (I hate to say) for sword but exotic double pole type weapons have started to interest me lately and the Whip as published in EN.World Arsenal.

Maul. :D

Nothing says blunt-force trauma like a half-ogre wielding one of these babies. And you get to say: "HULK* SMASH".

* Insert barbarian half-ogre name here

This is what the favoirites seems to be in my group.(Me=DM)
Braid blade(see Dun120) and body(for monk), longsword or longspear for fighter, 'plain' mace for cleric and Mondrenken's Sword for Wizzard. My top most favorite is someting I call "segmented sword", it is a flexible sections of interlocking blades with cord running throught the core. By shortening the cord the blades is stiffen, but it can also be used in manner similar to a whip, when not in use it can be cared as bandolier or belt. If you know a proper name for this please post it for me.

In Soul Calibur II, Ivy called her weapon "Valentine," but that's not a name. Since I don't think there's a historical equivalent of this, invent something. Sword-whip. Sword-flail. Or mix the two. Whord. Swip. Flord. Swail.

Or not.

In the campain I'm currently playing my warrior is using a dire pick and a shield. I really like the image of my warrior (which act as a tank for the group) running with his Dire Pick in front to bash the skulls of his enemies.
