What campaign settings are in print and what is good about them?

Flexor the Mighty!

18/100 Strength!
I'm thinking of taking a break from Greyhawk for the 3.5 game I want to run in the next couple months. So what other than FR and Eberron is out there for me to buy and what are the good things about it in your opinion? I haven't been paying a ton of attention to 3e stuff in the past year or so.

Thanks.

Midnight: Dark and evil setting where the bad guys are probably going to win and the players might be able to briefly bring hope and joy to a small part opn an otherwise mostly conquored continent.

Oathbound: High magic, high adventure of a plane that brings people to it in hopes that one day someone will be powerful enough for something I won't spoil for people.

Thieves World: Simply the most dynamic and amzing setting ever. It is low magic, grim and gritty, and I admit to being heavily biased.

Kalamar: A well put together political setting that still has plenty of adventure.

Goodmans DCC 35 is pretty good. They have some decent preview stuff available on their site. It may still be linked to ENWorlds news pages from last week. IT should be in stores the 16th, or soon thereafter, if your LGS is ordering it.

Wilderlands, there are some good reviews here on ENworld.

Running something Conanesque/Nordic/Celtic with Iron Heroes might be a bit of a change-up that you need :)

Seriously, IH rox my sox :D

I guess you could consider Freeport to be a campaign setting. Plenty of Piratey goodness there as well as some Cthulu overtures. Another plus is that there are lots of published adventures if you want them.

Wilderlands of High Fantasy is a huge setting with plenty of space to make the setting your own.

Olaf the Stout

Yeah, Iron Heroes is pretty good too. Lots of unique flavor. Of course it is more of its own system than just a setting. You may like the Blackmoor setting as well.

A Game of Thrones is just amazingly good.

I agree with Crothian on Thieves' World. Good stuff, and great fun. Typical of Green Ronin, I guess. :) Oathsworn too - it's quite a different experience, and worth a look.

Conan is cool. Then again, of course Conan is cool. It's Conan!

I've heard many good things about the Iron Kingdoms setting.

Legends of Excalibur and Legends of the Samurai are excellent, though not very D&D, obviously.

Some of the True20 settings are / look fantastic. I definitely recommend at least having a look at a few of them. I only know of nine at the moment (though there may well be more already), but each has its merits.

I'm waiting and hoping for Avadnu to come out as a complete setting. Either way, the Avadnu books to date are some of my favourite d20 fantasy books, the Broken Isles being the latest and my particular fave.

There's also the Diamond Throne setting of Arcana Unearthed / Arcana Evolved fame, of course. It has much to offer, too.

That's some of the better ones I can think of atm.

I'm playing in an Iron Kingdoms game that is very very cool.

Its got a mass of background flavour, thats well written. It has a slew of spell restrictions and class modifications that are fairly easy to implement. It has currencies and politics written up and fairly workable research rules.

Its sort of magitech steampunk. Its produced by privateer press (I think).

What sort of game do you want to run?
