What can I do with old running shoes?

I need some creative uses for old running shoes. There's a contest in Runner's World, and if you win, you get 7 free pairs of running shoes. My mom's big on running, so I'd like to surprise her. Any ideas?

Get them wet, then let them sit in a warm sunny spot for a couple weeks until they're properly ripened. Send them to your enemies.


Put them in the crawlspace to scare away mice.
