What character from a novel would you most want to play?

This may be a silly question, but have you read Waterborn and BlackGod?

And I for one would love to see the Fool Wolf stories compiled and published as a novel.

but of course! in my not-so-humble opinion, they're the best in contemporary fantasy novels. hezhi would be a close second as a character i would want to play [i've ruminated on inventing a magic system similiar to the shamanistic magic hezhi becomes involved in by the end of the books but have always gotten bogged down in silly details]. i read in an interview with mr. keyes published somewhere [helpful, aren't i?] that he plans on a fool wolf novel at some point. can't wait. his world is more evocative than almost any other fantasy world i can envision.

Definately Oberyn Martell, the "Red Viper" from A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin. His battle against Gregor "The Mountain That Rides" Clegane is amazing. Truly epic, that spear versus big honking sword stuff. Jumping around, taunting the guy. I've worked tirelessly to make something like that in D&D, I'm still working but I'll get it eventually.

My desire to play Arthur Dent (from the Hitchhikers Series by the late Mr. Adams) in a Sci-Fi or even Space Fantasy game is slightly overwhelming. I'll just have to figure out a way nerf the commoner class. . .

Oh man, what do i choose!? so many choices. Do i choose the obvious WOT Rand Al'Thor? No, no... hum... i would have to go with either Corum (from the moorcock series of said name) or Garion from the Belgariad. No wait wait. Hum. Ok, i hate to say, but i would prolly end up being Rand. All because of that scene at Dumai's Well (can you say Rand In A Box). When he breaks out and owns everyone, i get the most badass feeling.

Kull. Why? Well, I started reading REH at a very young age, and for some reason, Kull always appealed to me more than Conan. Maybe he is more broody and less lusty...I'm not real sure. But he is one of my most favorite book characters, comparable with the Phantom, Remo Williams and Chuin, and Repairman Jack. I also would probably enjoy playing the Phantom, or the Dutchman.

There are so many...

If I read the books now I'd probably think he was lame but when I was thirteen, I thought Allanon, from the Shannara series, ROOLED! :)

Can you say, "Signature Spell: Produce Flame"?

I also wouldn't mind playing Silk from David Eddings original series.

It's not really a novel, but I figure it counts for this question; Deadpool from the Marvel Universe. I love characters who are highly skilled with a couple of neat special abilities, but can get the crud beaten out of them every so often and can't do anything and everything... like superman, blurgh, how boring.

Again, not a novel but... if I were going to play a female character, I'd go Max from Dark Angel... mainly so that I could look at myself nekkid :D

Lastly, Vimes of the City Watch of Ankh-Morpork. Again, because he's not the be all and end all of characters and yet he gets the job done anyway. Gotta respect that. And I just love it how he handles the whole assassin thing; he rocks.
