but of course! in my not-so-humble opinion, they're the best in contemporary fantasy novels. hezhi would be a close second as a character i would want to play [i've ruminated on inventing a magic system similiar to the shamanistic magic hezhi becomes involved in by the end of the books but have always gotten bogged down in silly details]. i read in an interview with mr. keyes published somewhere [helpful, aren't i?] that he plans on a fool wolf novel at some point. can't wait. his world is more evocative than almost any other fantasy world i can envision.
