What character from a novel would you most want to play?

Man, If I could pull off the language I would so love to play the polyglot character from the Name of the Rose.

Tarma or Kethry from either the Oathbound or Oathbreakers by Mercedes Lackey. One is a cunning fighter who is equally good with sword or bow, on a horse or off. The other is a talaned mage that bears a magic blade that grants her the expertise of a fighter, though while she carries it she can leave no woman in trouble unaided.
And just for clarity's sake, despite the name, the person behind Ray Silver is a woman.

You've got the greatest swordsman in the FR as your back up when things get tight. You get to yell at a seven foot-tall, skull-crushing barbarian like he was your son. You have the ability to craft a hammer with the might of Aegis-Fang and you can plunge down a bottomless chasm on the back of a... was it a shadow dragon?...and live to tell the tale... and did I mention he is a king?
A close second... Gimli so I could be a natural sprinter that is very dangerous over short distances...
Dwarves got that simple, straight-forward, "stop bein' evil or I'll kick your teeth in" playability that is just so much fun.
Favorite character ever was a similar dwarf back around 1985-86, original Temple of Elemental Evil... [sniff!] brings a tear to me eye.

If i had to choose anyone person from a book to play, it would have to depend on my mood. my top 4 choices would have to be Rand or Mat from WoT, Raistlin(most likely spelled wrong due to not reading the series since i was 12) from dragon lance, or definatly Silk from the Belgariod.
