2. A halfling paladin with an ostrich mount. Put an 18 in CHA your saves will be amazing. Give the ostrich a either a magic item that lets them fly or jump and you will be in business.

For your PC either follow the mounted feats chain and plan on lancing your opponents, possibly from above (via flight of a big jump).

Nice. but I couldn't pull it off. I would be too worried that if the fight ran over 5 rounds an invincible dragon would appear and kick my butt.

You're kidding right? You have played Joust right? Don't go making me feel like an old geek, now. Have some respect for your elders you damn whippersnapper! Dag nabbit!

Sure I've played Joust.

It's inspired, I tell you. An ostrich mount. All you need in the stats...

Probably either a Moon Elven Brother Battle (How's that for a strange combination of suplements?) or a human Shaman, from the mongoose Shaman book.

heh, I'd be exactly what Numion mentioned.

Elven cleric of Shevarash.
No doubt this is an old idea, but I've been thinking about those elven archer clerics of Shevarash, and wondered about taking a level of monk at 1st level, putting almost everything into DEX and WIS for an AC of 18 or 19 (if a Wild Elf from FRCS) and advancing as an unarmoured cleric from then on.

An archer cannot use a shield, and your DEX or WIS will go up naturally as you gain levels, slowly adding more AC. Do you think this makes it worth the lack of opportunity to wear magical armour? On the upside, your movement rate doesn't go down, making perhaps for a better tactical archer.

Hmmm...

But if you aren't using armor, you won't be able to use your magic vestment spells to any advantage. The AC won't probably be a broblem, since you can boost your dex up with Cat's Grace. Mithral Chain Shirt is the way to go.

At 6th level you'll have AC of 24 = +6 Dex + 4 Armor + 2 Magic Vestment + 2 from items (probably ring & amulet). Not too sloppy for a non-frontline fighter. The +6 dex comes from 16 normal + 2 racial + 1 level + 3 cat's grace (3.5 is average.) = 22 = +6 mod.

EDIT: Hmm.. I'd written Mithral Chain Short..

What's Joust? And just so we have our epochs straight my buzzardling in swaddling clothes, the first video game I ever played was on a computer that filled a whole room. This was before Pong. I used to program on punch cards...trays and trays of punch cards!

So as not to hijack the thread: Wizard. OK, if you must, Wizard/Rogue.

Hmm.
Maybe a rogue aiming for Spymaster? At least that would make some fun, even if not combat efficient. :)

A neutral Cleric with the Healing and the Death Domain! :) Just to see if that can work...

Maybe a Barbarian/Bard ("Skald?").

Starting at 6th level allows many interesting options...
