D&D 5E What classes do you want added to 5e?

And yet is clearly factual and demonstrative. Weird, I guess.
Not when it comes to nonempirical fictive magic systems that are unexplained and open-ended. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous from any standpoint of reason and rationality.

I am? I don't think so. What an odd take. Please expand upon such a notion that it isn't.
Instead of being smarmy, which is surely unfruitful for discussion, you could clarify your position here:
The wizard is using external forces to influence the barbarian. External. Exerting power over the barbarian, externally. Yes, through magic.
Three times you claim that the wizard is using 'external' forces that you seem to equate with 'magic.' So if you did not mean what you said, I would appreciate some friendly and respectful clarification to help me better understand your position.

I will once again suggest you read up on the cleric class in the PHB. It may provide insight and help mitigate some of your confusion.
I did before posting this, in fact, and it does not explain how healing magic works. It says that they use healing magic and that it comes from the gods and their power. But all that does is shift the agent from the cleric to the deity. That still doesn't explain how healing magic works. The power of the gods may indeed involve allowing others to tap into their internal hidden reserves. It remains unexplained.

I think even going that far is too far (I would prefer steps back to be honest)

I believe you're outside the 5E mainstream on this. 5E already has support for optional rules modules, and if you tried to persuade WotC that e.g. Speed Factor Initiative should not have been published, they would listen politely and continue doing what they're doing.

You answered your own question. That's an external force if ever there was one.
As I said, all you are doing is shifting the principle agent from the cleric to the deity. That does not necessarily make it external, or certainly no more external than the warlord. It becomes a matter of the deity's power, but it does not actually address whether that that 'power' simply enables the barbarian to draw from their internal reserves as a warlord's own healing might.

"Smarmy" is not a synonym for "snarky." It's closer in meaning to "insincerely ingratiating", "unctuous" or "obsequious."
Then that was poor word-choice on my part, though the sentiment regarding his unhelpful snarkiness remains.

much like when the people in this thread request warlords...

so how about this... you don't want a team dynamic forced on you, why is it being an option bad... after the first time you refuse the healing the warlord won't keep trying...

the only contradiction is you... "I don't want X forced on me"

"Ok what if it was a choice"

I don't want choice either...

I don't understand you...

I can play this game, too!

"I don't want magic healing."

"So does that mean you don't want magic healing to work on you, either?"

"No, I just don't want to use magic myself."

"So you won't use any magic items?"

"No, I mean I won't cast any spells."

"So you'd be ok with a magical healing ability that wasn't actually 'Spellcasting'..." <-- Roll Perception vs. DC 1 to notice that's a statement not a question

yup... the deity is outside the cleric and the barbarian and by definition an external force...

A little more patience, please, Elfcrusher. I don't think he is trying to play tricks with you. I think he is earnestly trying to grapple with the particularities of your position.
