What classes haven't been done yet?

There is able learner in races of destiny. Allows the character to pay 1 skill point for each cross rank instead of 2; you still are limited to max cross ranks. I think you have to be a human or doppleganger to take the feat and at 1st level.
Ah, thanks for that! See, this is what I get for not keeping up with the current out-pouring of D&D material: rules ignorance.

Yes, this thread surfaces about once a year. This time around, I'll be the ignorant fool who starts it.

So, taking into account the new material in Complete Scoundrel, what classes haven't WotC put out there?

Something like the Tinker class from World of Warcraft RPG.
I know they have a PrC that does something like that. I think it could make for a good class to play and something that hasn't been explored in D&D...or I just don't know if they have tried.

It's one of my favorite feats. Haven't played a non-human since we started using it.

Thanks,

You mean, like, the Hero? :)

Really, if you look at the way the game is set up, if you want to play a character of any sort that actually has skills, you have to take a level in rogue. I mean, wouldn't it make more sense to have a generic Hero class, that while perhaps only as strong as the average fighter, would actually be a class that anyone could dip a few levels into for some skill points and an extra feat or two, and maybe a better save? Basically what you do when you take a level or two of rogue for skills and evasion, except with the hero you aren't limited to things that might not necessarily mesh with your concept anyway.

The martial rogue (from UA) almost does that for you. You lose your back stab (ok, sneak attack) but gain the fighter bonus feats and still get evasion at 2nd level. Everybody can use fighter bonus feats and evasion, so you really don't lose anything. Combine that with able learner feat from RoD and you are good to go!

I never thought I'd say this, but.............

I want the Strong, Fast, Tough, Smart, Dedicated and Charismatic classes from d20 Modern. I want Fighter, Rogue, Wizard's Apprentice, Bard, Cleric and whatever else occupations alongside City Guard, Monk, Commoner and lots of other fantasy archetypes. I want simple guidelines for creating new occupations and Talent Trees for spellcasting ability.

Then give me Paladin, Wizard, Ranger & other Advanced Classes.

Give me that, and I'll create any darned character imaginable.

Classically Modern (link to .zip file) comes close to perfect IMHO in this respect.

I like the idea of including the Modern base classes as optional classes for D&D characters.

As far as speciallist mage types like the Beguiler go, I think Abjuration and Conjuration would go together naturally. (Seeing as how you need circle of protection to do some of the calling spells safely.)
