A green dragon that breathes fire.

In D&D, the only evil dragon to breathe fire is the red, so they're the one I'd use. For low level parties, I'd go white since they can actually fight it. But in terms of general dragon art and myth, I think green scales, fiery breath of doom.

Red, for many reasons.

1. Basic box set that I pruchased in 1978 had one.
2. Smaug.
3. The phrase "fire breathing dragon" when translated into D&D is a red.

Red dragons. Dragons breathe fire.

Back in 1st edition the most common dragon was the huge ancient red dragon with 88 hit points. You never encountered any other kind, it seemed. Aside from the occasional huge adult white dragon that was the steed of a frost giant.

Yeah Red is the DnD Icon

um maybe green - or should it be gold?

Actually I hate the colour-coded dragons of DnD and IMC Dragons range from green to to gold (across brown, copper and bronze) coloured and ALL of them can breath fire or spit acid. Anything else (like Lightning, Gas etc) is a use of magic not a breath weapon
