What could a publisher sell you RIGHT NOW/

4e Paizo modules

The any of the AP's redone to 4e and sold with all the maps and monster counters/figures you need. Basically a campaign in a box. I would pay $150+ for such a monster.

4e computer game

A new version of Car Wars with plastic minis and some cool 3-d terrain.

I'll generally get anything Shadowrun. Even that freaking stupid attempt at a Clix-based game, I have two figures for that still. Oy.

I'd also kill for a Divine Power 2 at some point, hopefully soon.

I agree, and I do think that an evil AP is a bit too much to hope for. That's why (one picture caption aside) I don't suggest/ask for an entire evil AP; Paizo has already said they're keeping their AP's mainstream anyway, so as to hit the widest market - hoping an evil AP would be like hoping for an epic-level AP, it's just not going to happen because of how small the niche is.

But man would a single adventure be great.

I was in on one of the discussions over at Paizo and pointed out that what really needs to happen is for a small press company to just choose that as their focus. Everything they do needs to be evil aligned or at least be mature themed. Valar Project, Inc could have and was suppose to have done this after they released the Book of Erotic Fantasy. I'm still trying to figure what happened to them. Anyway, a small press company could easily tackle the whole genre of evil/mature (as a life choice for PCs) and would also be free to cover more than one system, increasing their profit margin.

I think Valar sunk a lot of money into their one product and never made it back.

That is the danger of producing a product that is too much of a niche.

I'll agree with that. Only I think the approach should have been a more generic as to what I mention by designing the books for multiple systems. So if a small press publisher wants to deal specifically in evil/mature they can't focus just on Pathfinder.

Seconded!

And a modern variant would be an instant buy for me too...

Thirded!

Although I'd like to see it open up to more magical items - not to power anyone up, but for flavor.

What other systems could they target besides 3.x? The GSL has a morality clause that would make 4e unavailable. I suppose they could make stuff retroclone compatible but most 3.x material can easily be converted so why bother.

Of course, depending on how "mature" the themes became they could even lose access to Pathfinder. d20's morality clause was light-weight in nature before BoEF.

Yeah, that pretty well sums up my thoughts on the matter too. While I'd like to see Paizo make an evil adventure, I doubt they ever will. The most realistic chance that we'll ever see one is if a third-party publisher decides to go that route (hopefully as a dedicated angle for their company).

Which is why they went OGL. Any publisher wishing to do something along these lines needs to OGL or at least make it rules free for specific systems. As for what systems besides d20/OGL you could Savage, WoD, BRP, just about anything really, but the key is to keep actual game mechanics out. If you take a good look at how Paizo did the Gamemastery Guide you can see a working model of how it could be done. If they decided to do a campaign setting they could do it rules free like Freeport then make compliant companion books since the majority of their "material" would be in the core book for the setting.

Exactly, since there seems to be some demand for it, but I think the key as I'm hinting at above is the company would need to really design a good mature/evil campaign setting that would support everything which would be their back bone. Something along the lines of Thieves World, Midnight, or Elric but with a more WoD adult approach both in content and art. Sort of a fantasy version of Kult or Chill but less on the horror side if you can understand the tone I'm thinking of, maybe not so dark.
