What deity does YOUR Cleric worship?

Lathendar (spelling?), the Morninglord... an FR deity, in a Ravenloft campaign.

Actually, the god as I protray him is based on Mythras, the Unconquered Sun. He is the transcendant Light, all light in the world is but a pale reflection of His glory. Standing outside the universe, Mythras's glory beckons to us from the holes in the firmament (the stars) and the sun in the skies. Like light banishes darkness, so does His power banish evil, and when one's soul is purged of all darkness it can join him beyond this world of shadows and lies (the material world), in the eternal trurth which is the eternal light. He is the sun that never sets, the light that is untouched by darkness - the unconquered sun.

But this being Ravenloft, I'm free to go about this heresy without my god polverizing me... there are advantages to being cut-off from your deity...

We can never get anyone in our groups to play clerics. Despite the fact that clerics are arguably the most powerful class in the game, nobody thinks playing one is any fun.
We had that problem, too. Until a couple of months ago when my wife (who still views herself as the clueless newbie after 10+ years) tried one for a one-shot.

She loved it and is currently playing a dwarven cleric of Clanggedin Silverbeard (on Greyhawk, of course).

She used to be a dedicated elven fighter. Now, I'm not sure she'll play anything besides a dwarven cleric for quite some time.

Bane. Pfffft. Now Torm, there's a deity.

Right. Bane is dead. Well, at least until 1372 DR...
Torm...hmm, he is SO lawful, ah, no, I prefer the free way of life and faith.
Ever heard of Mielikki?

Right now have 10th level Cleric of Zeus. He's a holdover from a 1st edition game we converted over. The world is the DM's own so Zeus certainly fits along with everything else.

Clerics in my opinion - are a great class to play. Good fighting ability AND decent magic. Real winners!

So far the only Cleric I have played (except NPCs when DMing) is a Wild Elf Cleric of Kord in a Greyhawk classic setting. He's only 4th level but still alive and in more occasions have proved to be the most effective PC - and that's not because I played it well.

Clerics as the most biased class in the game (from alignment point of view - once your deity is chosen), but considering the whole pantheon they have endless RP possibilities. Every different deity's dogma makes for an easy starting point to build something new. I almost chose Kord by accident, when I was thinking which PHB deities would fit wild elves, and then everything else in the character's build (abilities, feats, skills, equipment, spells...) went by itself from reading Kord religion description from DotF or D&Dg. Eventually it meant cleric-archer

Hmm Currently my only cleric character is in a PBP over at 3rdedition.org An angst filled half-orc cleric of Corellon Larethian (on Greyhawk). And he has his adoptive son with him too, an 8 years old human psion.

I had great fun with my cleric of St-Cuthbert. He would do his morning prayers, whenever possible, in the city's jail, as loudly as he could, figuring he'd educate the prisoners at the same time. Then he'd ride off and smite.

Fool!

Bane is testing the faithful. Those that cannot see the genius of his design will be destroyed for their insolence!

I really wonder about that. Clerics are so diverse, I can't believe you cannot find a fun character concept among all those possibilities!

Yeah I feel the same way. Clerics are my favourite class to play as they are sooo custumizable. I play a cleric of Shevarash from the FR setting. The moon elf has war and retribution as his domains. My character is a super-archer as Shevarash has a longbow as his favoured weapon.
