I was lucky enough to see it last week, not lucky enough for a cast member to be there, but then it's a small miracle they even showed it around here.
I was lucky enough to meet Nathan Fillion and Morena Baccarin at GenCon SoCal. Morena was cool and is quite pretty in person. Fillion is hilarious. I got a picture with him and the face he made was great. I talked with him about Firefly for about a minute and then we spent almost 10 minutes on Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place. Totally worth it. :)

Just 7 cast members left to sign my DVD set. *sigh*

While I really liked it, I'd still take RotS over it, you just can't beat lightsabers.
Interesting to hear that. It will be hard for any movie to beat RotS this year, for me. I had so much fun watching it that many scenes still resonate. And yeah, it's hard to beat the birth of Vader plus lightsabers.

I wouldn't think you'd need to qualify that.

We better make sure not to say this at the end of Spetember, because if we do we'll get lynch for our heresy. Of course I got guff for pciking RotS of Batman, by someone who hasn't even seen RotS yet.

Yep, and since seeing ROTS (twice now) I'm still reading through the Art of Revenge of the Sith and Making Revenge of the Sith books. There's still an excitement about that film that has just grabbed hold and is very reminiscent of the joy I had after watching Star Wars as a kid. To not only do justice to scenes I had been waiting 28 years to see (who says movies can't live up to expectations!), but to also smoothly transition to Episode IV is just amazing!

Ever since I learned that Leia wasn't originally written to be Luke's sister I've been quite disenchanted with such a "convenient" dismissal of the love triangle between Luke, Leia, and Han. Now I love that they're twins! I also used to think it was pretty lazy to have the prequel trilogy "echo" the original trilogy, now I love the sheer poetry of it. Like how the burning and screaming Anakin both parallels and dramatically contrasts with a freezing Luke on Hoth, reaching out with one hand and screaming for Obi-Wan....awesome! And that's just it, ROTS wasn't just spectacular in its own right, it makes the best parts of the original trilogy (and even some of its shortcomings like the twins) even better.

Oh, definately. Episode III has rekindled my interest in Star Wars to a degree I haven't felt in a decade. Since seeing RotS over a month ago, I've watched my Star Wars DVDs several times, bought the soundtracks to all 6 movies, read the Episode III novelization, and started replaying the Knights of the Old Republic video game. I feel like a kid again, and I love it!

I can't wait until later this year when the Episode III DVD comes out, and I can watch Episode I, Episode II, Clone Wars (hopefully Volume 2 will be out on DVD by then, but if not I've got the final 5 episodes saved on my computer), Episode III, Episode IV, Episode V, and Episode VI over the course of a single weekend. :)

At what point in the process was this? I know the characters what through quite a number of changes, some of which were drasticly different from what we know, but that all occurred in the early stages as George was still formulating things.

All the way up until Return of the Jedi, according to Star Wars The Annotated Screenplays. I highly recommend picking up this collection as its annotated by Lucas, Kasdan, Irvin Kershner, and some of the conceptual artists and crew. It breaks down the evolution of the story meetings and rewrites for each film and is a treasure trove of information from many of the major parties.

During the writing and filming of ESB, Luke was supposed to be falling for Leia and his sister was still hidden away on some as yet unnamed planet, to be introduced in a future episode (the whole Vader/Emperor saga was originally planned to take the series all the way to Episode IX.) But Lucas wanted Luke to seem expendable as he left Dagobah which is why he had Yoda deliver the "There is another" line even though he hadn't decided who the "other" was going to be yet.

Then after starting to get burned out after six straight years making ANH and ESB, he decided to condense the remaining story into Episode VI and wrapped up everything in Return of the Jedi. So he abandoned the whole "Vader tries to get Luke to join him to overthrow the Emperor" arc that was supposed to go on a couple more episodes and had Leia be the sister.

I really think ESB had a good thing going with the Vader/Luke plot and liked the love triangle element, but all things considered ROTJ still turned out pretty sweet. Now with ROTS and the new DVD Lucas has solidified it even more as a satisfying and crowd pleasing end to the saga.

Wow, the poll is closed already. Weird.

In any case, I thought it was a joke poll. To me, it's RotS, no question. Batman didn't deserve even half of the accolades it got, in my eyes.

I thought the whole Luke and Leia being twins came about between A New Hope & Empire. Don't ask for references because i don't have them ;)
