Mt Dew was made to be a mixer for hard drinks during prohibition. Thats why its citrus because it goes with most liquor. It's hard to pick just one flavor of Mountain Dew and honestly declare it your favorite.Sometimes you just want to try them all.
I’ve never wanted to try any beyond the original soft drink. And for me, 7-Up is the preferred lemon lime drink, followed by Sprite. It's hard to pick just one flavor of Mountain Dew and honestly declare it your favorite.Sometimes you just want to try them all.
While a non-commercial version was probably floating around during prohibition, the commercial launch wasn’t until 1940.Mt Dew was made to be a mixer for hard drinks during prohibition. Thats why its citrus because it goes with most liquor.
What got me started on the other flavors of Mountain Dew was when Pepsi came out with the first two Mountain Dew Kickstart flavors- Fruit Punch and Orange Citrus. They showed up at my workplace one day and piqued my interest enough in giving them a try. The Fruit Punch one tasted like a carbonated Hawaiian Punch.I’ve never wanted to try any beyond the original soft drink. And for me, 7-Up is the preferred lemon lime drink, followed by Sprite.![]()
Soft drink is what people call this in my part of the world (Ottawa, Canada). You left off "soft drink". Which I do not say, but which is the reference for it.
Also, in other parts of the world, "soda" can be much more interesting. I saw one like this just yesterday (except it was more of a blue color):

Between membership being advantageous socially and in dealing with the government at the time, yes, it was extremely commonplace. People who had the moral fortitude to avoid interacting with and supporting the Nazi regime, as Hannah Arendt pointed out in EiJ, had to withdraw socially to a significant extent, and were more the exception than the rule. And of course plenty of really active Nazis who actively participated in war crimes and genocide went on to live totally normal lives after the war and do little or no prison time. Some of them wound up judges and other important members of government. As @jian said, if you were a German businessman in about a 15 year period, you were probably a member of the Nazi party. How big of a Nazi Max Keith was is probably a subject for another thread (which will probably go great, if recent history is any guide).

Ja. It may have originally been a mixer, but doesn't seem to date back that far. The idea that it was originally intended to be a mixer might be indicated by the name, given that "mountain dew" was a euphemism for moonshine, and some of the early logos directly referenced that, with a moonshiner mascot/appearing in the ads. While a non-commercial version was probably floating around during prohibition, the commercial launch wasn’t until 1940.
