What Do You Carry to a Game?

As a player: a stack of CDs, a large bottle of still water, dice bag, pencils, character sheet/folder, mini(s), PHB (or its equivalent).

As a DM: a stack of CDs, a large bottle of still water, dice bag, pencils, folders with character sheets, adventure & campaign notes, blue book, minis, dungeon tiles, battle mat, poster maps, any books none of my players have that might see use.

As a DM I'm lugging around a pretty heavy load. I typically have a backpack full of DM's stuff, a bag of other books, and a box (or rather a coffer) with minis and floor plans.

I primarily play online now, so everything that I need is about 20 feet away on my RPG bookshelf in my bedroom. I keep the vital books needed near my computer, mainly the Saga edition core book, as well as notecards of what talents and feats I use that are in the other books I own (my computer desk doesn't have much space).

Normally my computer bag w/ laptop, charger, mouse pad and mouse. I have .pdfs of all the manuals I need and it is insanely quicker to find it online, along with spreadsheets and maps... etc

DM Manual and campaign printed out for quick reference. possibly maps if needed

tons of dice, my group varies in size and players so I end up carting around all the dice for the group so if someone else doesn't show we still have all the dice we need

players normally bring their char sheets, possibly a notebook and one other player brings a laptop just in case we need to look something up

and then food and soda of course

For the 4e game I play in, I carry a couple mechanical pencils, an eraser, character sheet, dice, and notebook. Also an Alea Tools case with their magnetic status markers and the mini for the game I'm playing in.

I have a very thin Macbook Air which I carry around everywhere.

When I'm playing in a different game, I'll bring the main book (ie, PFRPG or 1e PHB).

I DM at home, so I don't carry anything.

When playing online I pretty much run everything on the PC - Herolab for PCs, SRD open in multiple tabs for reference. If GMing then I'll also probably have a pdf open and perhaps some notes.

At the table I'll still take my PC if I'm GMing (hyperlinked SRD is a must-have in 3.X for me) but if playing I'll likely as not run my PC off a sheet. Dice, figures, beer, I'm golden.

Oh, and the Pathfinder book following on behind in a separate vehicle...

What's the full armload, backpack-full, etc. that you take to a game with you?

Backpack with...

Folder that has characters for all the games I play in. Extra combat sheets, fate point cards, and quest cards.

Dice, of course, but no books (I have them but don't bring them anywhere). I also have a number of minis I carry around (12 or so) for players who don't have any.

For those who run or play at home, what do you actually use at most games that you would need to take with you if you gamed elsewhere?

Dice, my notes and a pencil.

........Are there others who carrying tons of stuff they never use, just in case?

I have a player who does this.

What's the most you have ever carried or that you have seen someone else carrying?

If I DM somewhere other than home, I travel light - as I mentioned above, dice, some notes and a pencil. I have a friend who carries three 3-ring notebooks full of stuff, 3-5 books, and a small tackle-box with many many sets of dice all to a game where he plays with 3 others and myself as DM and never uses 99% of the stuff he brings.

Pretty much my whole 4e library (except things like modules, which I know I ain't gonna use); a 3" thick binder of notes and monsters (although I'm going to try to downsize this one, as much of it is notes from my last campaign); several small boxes and bags filled with sorted minis (this one has pc-race types, this one has undead, this one has non-bipeds, etc); battlemat; usually a poster sized map of the campaign world or at least the continent that the pcs are on; for a particularly good game, some predrawn mini scale maps for the coolest combats I anticipate, sometimes with some kind of prop elements; box of pens and pencils; often beer; smoke when I can; sometimes snacks.

I'm the dm, by the way.

PHB, Book of Exalted Deeds (for a monk with a vow of poverty that I play in the current campaign), Dice, a pencil, the last 10 or so character sheets of characters i played in previous campains or adventures.

Oh, and my wallet to get pizza, fries, or döner.

For 4E I never carry books anywhere.

As a player: I usually bring my character sheet, a miniature, dice.

As a DM: I usually bring a flip mat, monsters that I need for the encounter, a passing selection of miniatures, and my notes. dice, a baggie of craft-foam squares (used for marking and bloodied and such), a little notebook, and some index cards for initiative.
