What Do You Carry to a Game?

As a DM-

Generally if I DM it is held at my house in the "dungeon" where all of my books, maps and figures are.

In the early days when I DM'd elsewhere, it was:

Soda (sometimes a beer)
Chips
DMG
PHB
Adventure
pens/paper

Back in the 90's I didn't use figures.

As a player: Dice, a clipboard with my character sheets, extra paper, and any notes. A mechanical pencil, eraser if the pencil's eraser is gone or worn out. Maybe I'll bring a couple of drinks to store in the fridge for later.

As a GM: The main rulebook, a small notebook with NPCs, my world notes and maps, and the notes for tonight's adventure. Maybe a separate folder with pics and handouts. I usually will not bring more books than the main rulebook; very unusually, I'll bring a single supplement if the adventure might call for it -- for instance, if I'm running an Eberron game in Sharn, I'll bring the PHB (to look up NPC spells if I have a question) and the Sharn book. Same clipboard/dice/pencil I bring as a player. Almost always some water or drinks for later; I get thirsty when I GM.

Mechanical pencil
eraser
Box of dice
PH (would include PH2 if I used anything from that book)
Netbook (laptop) for character and campaign notes
snacks
drinks
something to cook on the BBQ (during summer, money for food during winter)
Character sheets

The relevant PH (PH1 for game where I play a cleric, PH2 for avenger's game)
Relevant splatbook (DP)
AV1
One of:
AV2, new book

That's 4 books, which is about the limit I can comfortably put in the backpack.

I also bring the character sheet, dice, pencil, box with 3 x 5 index power cards, and usually a 12-pack of Diet Dr Pepper.
