I can't take all these artwork references. Personally, I've never seen a Modron pic. Could somebody link me to something on Modrons so I know what the heck everybody is talking about? :\

Don't pay attention to that walking monodrone. That's a picture of the lowest of the modrons. They look a lot different as they go up in rank. There're physical descriptions of them on the D&D Website, just look for the Manual of the Planes Web Enhancement.

Though the pic with the decaton and monodrones is nice. Decaton is the lowest of the Hierarch Modrons. From lowest to highest is: monodrone, duodrone, tridrone, quadrone, pentadrone (all base modrons) and then decaton, nonaton, octon, septon, hexton, quinton, quarton, tertian, secundus (hierarch modrons) and then the one and the prime, Primus, the leader.

Don't let these people fool you into thinking their silly or cute. Apparently, they forgot what the hierarchs look like.

I agree with you. I mean, Demons and Devils are generally regarded as scary looking because the first thing that comes to mind when talking about them are Demon Princes, Archdukes, Balors, Pit Fiends and other high ranking fiends. Lemures, dretches, spinagons and imps are not preciselly regarded as milestones of scariness. The same goes for celestials. Lantern archons and coures are just as silly and cute looking as your average quadrone. However the first thing that comes to mind when you think about celestials are probably Devas or Solars.

I think that also has to do with the fact that they were almost never seen in images in 2ed outside of the Planes of Law books.

I really dislike the mechanics and wonkiness of 3rd edition Modrons. If anyone knows where I can get a conversion close to second edition standards, I'll give them a kiss.

I love Modrons, personally. But then, I like clockwork creations and the Modrons' odd, logically bureaucratic nature. And my group revels in quirky, whimsical/silly, and wacky things, so no problems there, either. Finally, I may be a tad further biased from playing Planescape: Torment.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Modrons are the coolest thing in and about D&D, period.
I find this argument unconvincing without a bunch of extraneous exclamation points interspersed with several number one's.

And bad spelling. So basically, more like this...

What you think of modrons is irrelevant. The Multiverse will succumb to perfect order in due time. Opinion is irrelevant. Regulus is truth.
