D&D 5E What do you think the 2020 Summer, Fall, and Winter D&D books will be?

In the past I have been kidding about Kaladesh as a potential franchise to sell toys with figures and also vehicles, and even a crossover Transformers-Kaladesh.

We will see more modules, of course, maybe the house of the Gryphon Hill, but I miss crunch sourcebooks. A planar handbook is possible, maybe Nordon's guide of the planes.

I am thinking about the possibilities of the return of some old D&D franchise but not in 5th ed but in Magic: the Gathering, for example Jakandor. Other option could be some spiritual sucessor, with some littles changes in the lore (allowing to add the new races and classes) but crunch totally compatible. For example a reboot of Red Steel/Savage Coast with (steampunk) repeater firearms and mutations/superpowers.

If the teleserie of Magic: the Gathering is a successful smaching-hit we could see a spin-off or companion show/companion serie based in Innisthrand, and later Ravenloft (that has got a lore more open to changes). I wouldn't dismiss totally a "Masque of the Red Death" in a far future, and even other set in the noir-punk pulp age (1930-50's) because it's easier to be adapted to an action-live serie.

Gaming is fun, and fun is for everyone
The last book released (Eberron) was a setting and the next two confirmed books will also be settings. So I'm going to guess the unannounced products will go in another direction to avoid setting fatigue.

Summer: Shorter adventure collection. Following the Yawning Portal and Ghosts of Saltmarsh model, a collection of smaller adventures that can be used individually or run one after another. I believe it was reported that Kate recruited some big names to work on a book so I think that a number of these will be originals instead of conversions from old editions.

Fall: Adventure Path in the form we are used to getting them now. Levels 1 - 15 conflict that eventually grows to epic proportions. I'm betting that it will tie into Baldur's Gate 3 by focusing on the Gith vs mind flayer conflict.

Winter: It's been a while since we've had a monster book. Taking after Volo's and Mordenkainen's it would also double as a deeper exploration of some of the lore. This is the one I'm least sure about since we've now had 3 monster focused books and most of the classics and go to's are statted at this point. But there could be interest if they round up some of the truly obscure old monsters.

This looks pretty accurate to me. I'll add that the psionic sapphire dragon had its stats released with that expensive dice set, and that I believe Tito said its stats, and those of other gen dragons, would be released in a book this year.

I can't really see a full slate of gem dragons' stats being released in any adventure book, so I assume its coming with a monster book, or possibly a setting book.

The delay isn't the people working in an office moving to remotely working at home. The delay is the factory in China that has been shuttered for an extra 2 months getting a massive backlog and the corresponding difficulty in accommodating all the late product in the logistics sector.

Yeah there could be heavy delays things have gotten worse, but I haven't seen Mystic Odysessys of Theros delayed yet.

Still right now we all have more important concerns now then how other D&D books are coming out later this year. I'm making no more assumptions for now.

Even if they could print the book, there wouldn't be any point because all the bookshops are closed.

They may bring things out on D&D Beyond and delay the print books though. If anything this is going to accelerate the trend to online only.

Printing and distribution would be affected. Promotional activities would be impacted as well; it would make sense to delay to ensure you can have the most optimal marketing and launch conditions.

Your responding to a post I made that no longer represents my position on this issue. I now think some kind of deley will be hard to avoid, the only question is serverity.
