What does GNS mean?

Really? I had name recognition and an organization full of zealous followers for about 7 years. Trust me. It's a meagre/non-existent reward.

...you're Elvis, arn't you.

I say we ENWorlders come up with our own theory on rpg design, on rpg gaming, and try and get Robin Laws in on the work Does anybody think he would help us? If he's not available, so what, we can do it.

I concur, and to that end I propose what I have dubbed the FAC unified gaming model. At its base, it states that gaming enjoyment is derivative from 3 primary factors, and that a balance between these factors that is tailored to the individuals in your gaming group will maximize enjoyment of play. The three primary factors of FAC are:

Fun.

Awesomeness.

the presence of sentient angelic gelatinous Cubes.

... I think that's a pretty solid base to work from, eh? :p

I always thought it stood for Gareth Nichael Skarka..... :D Man, you learn something new every day....

No, you mean Gareth-Nichael Skarka. The hyphen is very important, believe me.

Given his bookishness, capacity with the English language, and sophisticated knowledge of ancient China, I would say you're wrong.

He's clearly Kenny Rogers.

Aah, good point. That would explain his delicious rotisserie chicken, as well. :p

The purpose of scientific theories is to gain greater insight into some aspect of our reality. Games theory should thus further understanding of RPGs. The aim of this would be to be able to produce better RPGs.

Based on this I'd say that the 'worthiness' of any RPG theory can be measured how well it helps people design more enjoyable RPGs. There should also be a suitably large test population of RPGs - a few sucky forge RPGs prove nothing about their theory, since the theory might be fine, but the designers bad at implementing it. So, how do the Forge RPGs stack up against competition?

I wish the name recognition and zealous followers I used to have were for something as tangibly good as the chicken 'n tunes. But alas, I was the leader of a small political party (the Green Party of British Columbia) until I was lynched by hippies and fled the jurisdiction.

Is that a hyphen or an em dash?

As long as it isn't a dot. Visualise now Gareth•Nichael Skarka, polyglot creator of Hong Kong Action Theatre, Vampire: the Masquerade, and something that almost but not quite resembles a gaming theory all in one. I'll be in my bunk.
