What does Nerf(ed) mean?

Ok, aside from the popular sports toy...

I've sean this word a lot lately (mostly in reference to 3.5).

I assume it means weakened or something like that.

It derives from the popular toy line. The idea behind Nerf toys is that they are supposedly harmless. When you Nerf something you take something that is dangerous and make it incapable of hurting a fly

Nerf is a kind of styrofoam like substance. They made bats, etc, that kids could hit each other with without hurting them.

So Imagine a Wooden Baseball bat turning into a soft, nerf baseball bat. It looks like the same thing but its nature has been completely changed.

It's also popular to get Nerf guns that shoot small foam balls or darts, and shoot people working in office cubicles. Go figure.

Then, of course, there are the ever-popular Nerf-listic Missiles as used in the war against the mimes... :p

Man! I really wish I was going to GenCon this year. I have a whole stash of Nerf ballistic weapons that I could pelt fellow ENworlders with... :(

Maybe next year...

"Nerf" is actually an acronym:

Never
Ever
Reveal
Feelings

It has to do with being emotionally-repressed (or Stoic, as emotionally-repressed people, unable to admit the truth of the matter, like to paint the situation).
