What exactly can you do to a scrying sensor?

It says somewhere in the rules that someone being scryed upon can notice the sensor with a DC 20 intelligence check. But once he's noticed it, what exactly can he do? Can he destroy it? Look back at the scryer? Blast a spell or breath weapon through it to hit the scryer? (cool, neh?)

Anyone know?

None of those, but he could cast Dispel Magic (etc) on the sensor, to end the scrying spell. Or he could go to somewhere screened against scrying. Or go get help formsomeone with the means to do something about it, if the person being scryed upon can't do anything himself.

Perhaps more effective, pretend NOT to have noticed it, and try to feed disinformation to the scryer. ^_^

Aww. I kinda liked the idea where the good guys are scrying on the big evil spellcaster, and he's talking to a minion, then he suddenly stops, and looks round at the people scrying on him, and they all yell, "Quick, end the spell before he fries us!"

Well, you could always give the BBEG a custom spell, "Disrupt Scrying", that deals 1d4 per caster level damage to theperson who's DOING the scrying, as well as terminating the spell. ^_^

Just be ready for the PC's to pick up their own version of that spell, lickety-split. ^_^

The only thing you can do about it is get rid of it... or, if you are in my party, you get the rogue to dress everyone up and make a bluff that "these aren't the droids that you are looking for".

Can he destroy it?
Nope, he can dispel it though.
Look back at the scryer?
Nope.
Blast a spell or breath weapon through it to hit the scryer?
Nope. He can give it the finger, though. As-is, getting at a scryer suffers from the Snow Crash problem: you can't get hurt by looking at a picture.

There is some neat stuff in the BoEMs about counter-scrying and spells that attack the scryer thru the sensor and such. Sounds like just what you're looking for.

Hmm, maybe I'll have to get the BoEM after all- seems like it has some problem areas (from what I've heard), but the scrying sensor approach is something I've been mulling lately already.

Check out Dragon #319, pages 63-66. There's some nice scrying (and anti-scrying) items. Of notable mention is the Deathglance Locket: it grants a bonus to noticing scrying sensors and, once a day, shoots a 10d6 blast (DC 20 Will for 1/2) back the offending scryer (and forces them to make a Concentration check or lose the scrying effect). Pretty AND shiny.

Edit: AND cheap...under 4,000 gp. Yeesh!
