What exactly is the deal with the 4th Edition?

I don't think that's needed to posit. I believe I've seen him posting about his confusion on Fourth Editon on another forum (RPGSite).

I don't think its too difficult to imagine that there are a few people who are still in the dark about 4e; especially those new to the hobby. It's sort of like someone picking up their first Spiderman issue during the middle of OMD only to discover that at the end of the mini-series the whole Spiderman universe is about to be reconned.

A better way to conceptualize the Virtual Tabletop is like playing online chess. You use a program, it has a map with pieces you can move stuff around on it, and it also tracks other things (how many moves you've made, what pieces have been taken, et al).

So the Virtual Tabletop will probably be like OpenRPG, Maptools, and other existing software that allows you to play RPGs online.

If this is the case, it'll just be some software that does this:

Has a map program that allows you to move minis around on a board.
Roll dice (via a dice program).
Possibly have something that lets you use character sheets.
Chat interface (basically a chat window where you type stuff in).

Though, since all these features all ready exist in programs I just listed, I'm curious what will set the WotC Virtual Tabletop apart from them.

Happens offline every day, regarding office memos and notices, in the same darned office building, much less among different users finding this stuff out around the world. :)

To the OP: ENWorld has a massive 4E information page you can read. There's a link to it at the top of this forum.

So now there are witch hunts on suspicion of trolling ?

Is it not a bit rude to say this to his face, especially as his question seems quite legitimate ?

Thx very much for all the replies folks. I have a much better idea about how the new ed. is going to work.

PS Dave Turner. Who's the more trollish? The troll or the troll who trolls looking to accuse people of trolling??

Well, the troll, of course! But the guy on the constant lookout for trolls isn't very nice either :p

Welcome to the fabulous world of the well-informed. Tempers run a bit hot in this world, so be on the lookout for flame and acid regardless of your regeneration type.

Check out that aforementioned 4e information page (if you haven't already), there's some good stuff there.

Then report the post instead of being rude in the thread, please. It's generally best to treat new members with friendship and kindness!

And old members, too. But you knew that. :D

I'm disappointed with this thread
By the title I thought it had something to do with humor, in a Seinfeld-style introduction...
Oh well, my mistake
LOL
