What Fantasy rpg's, other than D&D, do people enjoy?

As far as why so many people play D&D first, as someone already said, everyone knows it. It's the "common language" of fantasy gaming. Sit down with 5 people you've never gamed with before, and D&D will probably be the one game everyone has experience with. So if you decided to play a pick up game, D&D it would be.

I'd love to try Exalted. Otherwise if I'm going to play a system other than D&D, I'll probably aslo switch genres.

Exalted, Exalted, Exalted. Yes, some of the rules could use tweaking, yes, it seems to be suffering from mild (MILD) power creep. And yes, its setting makes any other game I've read/played look like crap.

Other FRPGs I like:

-Wheel of Time. I would've done a few things differently, but it's still a pretty faithful game. Besides, I've been involved in a Wheel of Time play-by-post game for longer than I've been involved in any RPG, no matter what the format was. (We're level 4 now!).

-Shadowrun 3rd edition. I don't think there'll ever be a game that will be quite like Shadowrun. It's just cool for inexplicable reasons.

And that's it. Those are fantasy-based games I'd play automatically if asked.

GURPS!
Been running a homebrew fantasy gurps campaign for 4 straight years now with 8 players. Everyone is loving it. I'm loving the flexibility of the system. I can simulate pretty much anything I want. I've had gritty political adventures to serious dungeon crawls. I don't think it gets much better than this. (plus I can convert any cool DnD stuff I want).

Ran an Ars Magica campaign for a few years before that. Man, that is a fantastic system also. A little more abstract in some areas than I would have liked but I loved running it.

My list includes.

Dangerous Journeys: Mythus
Ars Magica
Everyway
Lejendary Adventures
Talislanta
Skyrealms of Jorune
Tribe 8
Ork World

If you're in the San Diego area drop me a line.

I'm going to be fairly strict about the definition of fantasy and say:
RuneQuest2

Call of Cthulhu

Also tried, but not so keen on:
Chivalry and Sourcery, MERP,

I can't believe that no one here has mentioned one of my favourite RPGs of all time, Feng Shui.

I've also played and really enjoyed
- 7th Sea
- Silver Age Sentinels [currently playing]
- Amber (years ago)

I have and wish I could get into a game of
- Castle Falkenstein
- Agone
- Adventure!

And I have tried and have no desire to go back to
- Champions
- Rolemaster. Would be willing to try HARP, though.
