What films depict war gaming?

Do you know what movies depict war gaming?

I have a memory of an older movie, black and white and made in the 20s or 30s, which briefly depicts war gaming. Some boys are playing a war game and I believe the loser in a tantrum kicks over the figurines of the winner. This may or may not have been Beau Geste.

Trying to work out which movie this was (my google search just comes back with the Daby Coleman flick from the 80s) made me wonder about films in general which feature war gaming. Do you know of any?

When you say war gaming what do you mean? Specifically games using miniatures or figurines or markers?

In the tv series Callan they played some kind of Gettysburg scenario.

In the movie The Final Countdown they play Squad Leader.

In Ronin there's a scene of the doctor guy putting together a little samurai army.

That was the 1980s flick I mentioned already. I am asking, what else is there?

You might be more clear to state that as Dabney Coleman in the 1980's movie WarGames. Most people think of Mathew Broderick in that film, not Coleman, so you're referencing by Coleman is not fully evocative of your meaning.

I would check movies depicting germans making battle plans. During WW2, germans were using kriegspiel (war games in german) to test their battle plans.

So just about anytime you see a big table with models on it, they were playing a war game.
