What happened to DOorDice.com?

It is a shame, because they were always good with my previous orders. I have not ordered anything since Wardrums came out. They sent me the wrong case of minis (the previous release instead of Wardrums), but I decided to keep it and ordered another case of Wardrums. That was the only problem I had ever encountered and it happened around the time they were doing their staff changing, but based on what I have been hearing it has not gotten better and I will probably choose another company to order from.

It is a shame also because they seemed like actually nice people. I lived down the street from them and would walk over once in a while. The storefront is gone now though, replaced with a chincey little crafts shop.

They might have taken a huge hit trying to get their Rezolution miniature game off the ground. I don't think that turned out very well for them.

Whatever it was, I really hope that they manage to fix their mistakes and at least fade away without damaging anybody's credit.

Once, I was fool enough to order from New Wave Games. I only got half my stuff, and was given the run around or not answered for months about my remaining items. In the grand scheme of things, it was a relatively small amount of money (8-12, maybe?), but I called my credit card (Capital One) and told them I'd not received a portion of my order. They said "okay, we'll refund your credit card." I'd had the same card for probably 6-8 years by then, I think. I've only ever missed maybe two payments, and those were just a few days late. I don't know how that factors into it.

Several weeks later, New Wave actually credited my card, too. I eventually called Capital One to tell them I'd been double refunded, and I swear the guy I talked to was laughing at me. He said I could keep it. :P

Anyway, I didn't have to do anything but tell the credit card that I'd had a problem. No paperwork, no signing, no anything.

Bummer about Do or Dice. I'd ordered from them before, and had good service.

Yeah me too. :(

Never had a problem with them and back when Giants of Legend was new, I ordered a crapload of boxes from DoorDice and they called to make sure it wasn't a mistake. Seemed nice to me.

Sad to see them go down the crapper though :(

I used to buy from Do or Dice online occassionally, but haven't bought anything from them in awhile. Never had any problems with them, though.

I also received one of those $10 off coupons when they changed staff. It's $10 off a purchase of $50 or more. I was going to use the coupon recently to order "Secrets of Xen'drik," but couldn't find anything else on their website I really wanted badly enough to bump the order up to $50.

So I ordered from another site. Guess it's a good thing I did.

Sounds like they're hit or miss. There may be a few people working there who care and a few who don't. Or the business took a left-turn and hasn't been doing well for the past few months.

Has anyone else in these forums ordered from DO or DICE since March of 2006?

It appears that up until about then, this was a legit business with a good reputation, but then sometime afterwards they moved and changed staff. Since that change, this company has taken a nosedive, and they are now essentially running a scam operation:

- They advertise a product being in stock at a very competitive price, especially when you factor in their numerous 10$ off or 10% off promotional codes.
- The instant you place an order, your credit card is billed.
- They quickly move the order status to "Pending Shipping", making it impossible to cancel the order via their web-site.
- They either never ship your product or possibly wait an extremely long time (up to a month or more) before doing so.
- They do not answer e-mails or phone calls.
- All the while, they have free access to your money.

It's entirely possible that they are still sending out some shipments to some customers, and perhaps only certain products, specific customers or orders of a certain value are being affected by this scam.

In any case, it's definitely a company everyone should now avoid like the plague. What was once a reputable shop is not any longer. Hopefully posting this here on ENWorld will reach a sizeable share of their prospective customers, and save those customers a major problem like I and many others have recently encountered.

I ordered with them on 05/28/2006 for an order of 9 different products totalling $138.59, but the lure of the site was because of the reduced prices and they appeared to have some products in stock when they're usually not available in most other places, so I gave it a shot.

I experienced the same dilemma of not being able to get anyone to respond to anything by e-mail and no luck with the 800 #. However, I had no problem receiving auto-notices at the end of every week indicating that my order was still pending. Message would look like this:

****

Hello XXXXX,

This is just a courtesy email to let you know that your order, XXXXXX, is still awaiting final processing.

This is most likely because of items currently on-order from the manufacturer/distributor.

To ensure that you receive items which are in stock, your order may be broken up into two or more shipments.

You will not be charged additional for secondary shipments (within the domestic US only). Backordered items for international orders will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

We want to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email or call us at 1(888)499-3423 and one of our Customer Service representatives will be happy to help you.

...or I would get advertisements for other products. Needless to say, I was getting very frustrated!

Finally, by 06/19/2006, I received an e-mail from 'Justine', the Customer Service Manager at the site apologizing for the delay as she was in the hospital and that my order would finally be shipped, but the two items that were on backorder was unavailable and would never be shipped (Hellstone Deep & A Magical Medieval Society - Western Europe [hardcover]). I also had received the shipment either the same day or the next day. Never actually stated what she was in the hospital for, but that she was still tired from the stay.

Like everyone else, I also got the 10% offer off the next purchase. This had been my 1st and only purchase with them and given the length of time and lack of response ... as well as advertising products as being in stock when they weren't ... that frustration and being left in suspense as to what's going on isn't worth the deeper discount. I did not get billed for the other two items that would require a credit back.

Everyone got the same thing, not to mention that they all had similar experiences.

Do you suppose it's possible that Do or Dice went out of business and someone else bought the domain name to scam people?
