Well, I recently got back into D&D after a very very long break.
When I did, it was time to dust off good old E-Tools and reinstall it. One problem though, I was missing some datasets! Well, I took a trip to Code Monkey Publishing... only to discover...
They lost the license for WotC? E-Tools is effectively "dead"?
What the...?
Well, a bittorrent search a few minutes later yielded me all the datasets that I could possibly use, which I don't feel bad about now, because I can't legitimately purchase them from Code Monkey.
However, what does this mean for the future? Has Wizards of the Coast indicated that they intend on coming out with their own, internally developed, electronic DM's software?
I know that there's a lot of DM and Player software out there right now. E-Tools was the one that best fit my needs. It was still kinda clunky, but it was the best thing that I'd tried. I'm kinda looking forward to see if Wizards can come up with something better.
Are they? I can only assume that they took the license away from Code Monkey so that they could either work on it themselves, or give it to someone else.
Sorry but I can't for the life of me figure out how to run a search on the forums... I figure someone must have posted about this sometime ago...
