What happens to a body when it is brought to -74?

Funny I don't remember being there. Maybe amniesia is a side effect of having -74 hp :D
I'd think that having amnesia would be the least of your problems at that point. ;)

ok. -70 something hit points.

he's like well...
think of a watermellon ok?
now imagine this mellon falling from a 100ft sky-scraper and hitting the pavement 5 seconds later.
*grins as she watches the player's face squench up.
now. roll up another character.
^_^
Or, as I like to call it, 'The Gallagher Effect.' :p

Large critter, medium victim, 64 point overkill? ouuuch

Head torn off, helmet crushed by bite, neclace safe. armor, backpack, cape and shirt ruined ruined by big pincers, leave the weapon, rings and bracers be. belt ruined as lower claws tore his guts out. boots ok.
boots = in need of a very good cleaning. :D

I don't think I'll do any armor damage, but think his chain shirt has become sort of a 'cheese grater' and the barbarian has transformed into something resembling spaghetti. :D

Considering that hit points don't really correspond to actual damage to the body while it is alive, why should we think they correspond to actual damage to the body after it has died?

Because that's way more fun!

This discussion becomes much more interesting if you consider the Frenzied Beserker PrC and his Deathless Frenzy ability. Essentially, he can go to -999 hp and not die while he is in Frenzy.

What the hell would that look like?

I always wondered what would happen if a Frenzied Berserker got Disintegrated while in a Frenzy. That would be... interesting... :)

A frenzied berserker that gets zapped with disintegrate while he's in the negatives is just gone, probably. Dust can't swing axes.

Just out of curiousity, how much HP did the raging barbarian have before the glabrezu grabbed him?

But at -74.. Well, my group has this thing we like to call splatter radius, for this sort of situation.

Raise Dead requires a relatively intact corpse, and I don't think it's gonna cut it for that berk.

An interesting note about the frenzied beserker is that I see no note in the mechanics of deathless frenzy that would stop him from being KO-d by non-lethal damage. Sure the flavor text mentions unconsiousness, but the actual mechanics only seem to work vs lethal damage.

While we're on the subject of Frenzied Berserkers, my cleric was on the receiving end of a FB's Great Axe crit that dropped him to ~-70HP... I wasn't happy. The group agreed that I had been cut in half at the waist.
