If my monk is entangled by a spell effect, or grappled by someone, can I use Abundant Step to escape? Basically teleporting out of the grapple?
isoChron said:Sure. Why not. It's a supernatural ability that needs a standard action to activate. No concentration checks or the like.

There are two ways to adjudicate grappling.mattcolville said:If my monk is entangled by a spell effect, or grappled by someone, can I use Abundant Step to escape? Basically teleporting out of the grapple?

1. You can only perform those actions explicitly listed.
2. You can perform any action unless explicitly disallowed.
If your DM follows #1, then you need to find the action listed from the following link in order to perform it.
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm#grapple
However, this is trivially rejected with simple example: any dragon with snatch. The rules denote a case of breathing on a victim snatched in the mouth (no reflex save), but that case would be impossible under the above interpretation (breathing not being listed). Thus, #1 cannot be correct. So, your DM is wrong and should allow you to use Abundant Step.
Definitely not. No concentration check needed. You either allow the action or you don't, but don't gimp the Supernatural ability for no reason.robberbaron said:The monk disappears and reappears elsewhere, perhaps after a successful Concentration check.
