I named our dog Elbereth Gilthoniel and our son, who is named John Luke (after the biblical figures), will be dressed as a ST:tNG captain this halloween. (He also has a Star Trek blankie that my wife sewed for him.)

edit: i also have 6 G.I. Joes, batman, robin, superman, aquaman, and the complete SWAT action figures with 2 SWAT headquarters in that box. plus Mork & Mindy and Grease trading card sets... and so, so, so much more. my parents saved all of my toys from when i was a kid and when i got married they offloaded most of them on me. :heh: though, my nephew got all my Star Wars stuff

Yes, but are any of them the original 12" tall G.I. Joes, and are they the blonde or the dark-haired ones?

(I know I'm going to lose a geek contest with Diaglo, especially after his first post in this thread.)

At work, I have to set up test cases on a database to test my code against. My newest test case is called Fairies, Elves & Dragons, Oh My, Inc. Their affiliate is Underhill, Inc. Their administrator is Mr. Frodo Baggins. ;)

I've already mentioned the test programs named after permian reptiles. I also named a set of servers after some anime characters, and my personal computers after the Chinese names of Winnie the Pooh characters. I'm now not allowed to name any new servers. :(

Hey, this makes me feel considerably less geeky! Thanks, guys!

This week, I was sitting on the bus, watching a guy read an EBERRON campaign book, and I kept debating whether or not I should saunter over and start up a conversation about EBERRON (knowing nothing about it). I decided not to, because there were other people on the bus, and I'm wimpy like that.

My girlfriend isn't a gamer (although, she has an Omega World character that one day, SHE WILL PLAY), and I often get the "aw, you're so cute" look when I go off on a D&D tangent.

i don't consider the short newer ones GI Joes.

yes, i have 1 blond sans beard before kung fu grip. 1 red head with kung fu grip. and 4 dark-haired ones.

I have fuzzy d20s hanging from my rear view...

But I know there's gotta be a geekier moment in there...

hrmmm when my GF learned of my gaming hobby maybe...

So what other kinds of hobbies do you have?

Uhh... lately I've been umm sculpting a lot...

Sculpting? That's so cool... what do you sculpt?

Uhhh like... scenery... and stuff...

Scenery? For what?

Umm... it's hard to explain... For games..

Games? Wait... do you play D&D or something?!?

... ... yes...

She laughed at me for a while... But now she defends my geekish hobby. She's the best! :p

One would have to be when my uncle and I went on vacation from dreary northwest Pennsylvania to Georgia and South Carolina and some of the only things we did were go to game stores, teach our one friend to play D&D minis skirmish, and play solo D&D games!

Another would be almost coming to tears over the fact that the same uncle got me Rappan Athuk Reloaded for my birthday. I thought for sure that I had missed the boat on it and would have to pay outrageous ebay prices for it.

Best Uncle ever! Especially at $75!

That's almost as good as someone on these boards who bought 2 copies of Ptolus and was going to give one copy to a friend as a present.
